So I'm slowly gathering the M'Avina set pieces as I'm finding them, because the Price Check tool says the full set is being traded quite a bit and it's worth Ist+. I got these two armors and I'm wandering which one would be preferable to keep with the set, and which one to throw away. If you wanted to get the full set, which armor piece would you prefer having?
Can be used to make Runewords:

Integer MDR would surely be more important for most people. Defense shouldnt matter as much for a bowazon? Havent played a bowazon, but thats my take
5 MDR way more valuable than 28 defense (about 6x the MDR) There’s a reason you can find items with 600 defense, but not items with 100 MDR
Amazon doesn't need defense, because she lacks skills to improve %defense. And 28 defense are nothing.
Amazon has Avoid, Dodge, Evade.
MDR is way better.

11 out of possible 12 MDR is almost perfect, definitively keep the 11 MDR one for the reasons the others already told you.
Considering Armor is pretty useless anyway, personally would definitely go for the magic damage reduction rather than the extra armor.
From what I know that depends on the character you play.Semirotta wrote: 20 hours agoConsidering Armor is pretty useless anyway, personally would definitely go for the magic damage reduction rather than the extra armor.
Those that can raise their base armor value by skills like the Barbarian and the Paladin, armor can reach significant heights and thus be very good as it makes you well-nigh unhitable, especially by normal monsters.
But for Amazons armor surely is not of much relevance, there I agree.
OP
thanks to everyone for their answer, I'll keep the 11 mdr
I would go with magic damage reduced by 11, it's way more important than other afixes I believe

As a bowa you are running as often as possible.
Running = your armor goes to 0.

Yep. A Paladin can reach 30k+ defense, wich means that many enemies are reduced to 10-20% effective Chance to Hit. Lower that by 75% (via maxblock) and you get an impression what defense can do.wulfen777 wrote: 19 hours agoFrom what I know that depends on the character you play.

Defense is not very important for Necromancers, Assassins, Warlocks, Druids (except Werebear) and Amazons.
It is useful for Sorceresses.
And it is top priority for Paladins and Barbarians.
Yes, that's a part of it. The other Key part is that when running your defense is functionally 0 so it only helps any class when walking, standing still, or moving with a skill like Teleport or Charge. Even at that the most extreme case of being able to make it super useful is a Smiter and without an Exile the difference between max and min roll defense on all your gear would only account for maybe a 10% difference. For a Paladin, you're Chance to Block also makes damage avoidance more likely but even then you don't rely on it as you're Key survival stat.wulfen777 wrote: 19 hours agoFrom what I know that depends on the character you play.Semirotta wrote: 20 hours agoConsidering Armor is pretty useless anyway, personally would definitely go for the magic damage reduction rather than the extra armor.

Think of it this way, if you've 500 life and the enemy hits for 250 no matter how much defense you have they'll drop you in 2 hits if RNGesus decides it is so giving a few frames to use a rejuv and maybe make it. If you have even 1 DR with 0 defense it'll take them 3 hits giving you 2x as much time before the first and fatal hit lands. Theoretically a HUGE defense increase with a large enough life pool to survive several hits statistically works out but in the short run of 3-10 hits that you're life bar is reality can skew very far away from long-term average stats.
Now if Defense worked like Resistance it would be a different discussion but there's no similarities.
Oh definitely, Im not saying its completely useless to stack up armor as it DOES help but its so very little and ofc if youre squishy character to begin with; extra armor is always a good thing but what Ive learned by just playing the game is that Armor has never managed to save my arse from insta-hit killing Javelin thrower or something like that, but Ive had much better luck with surviving souls for example by having that tiny extra MDR.wulfen777 wrote: 19 hours agoFrom what I know that depends on the character you play.Semirotta wrote: 20 hours agoConsidering Armor is pretty useless anyway, personally would definitely go for the magic damage reduction rather than the extra armor.

Pretty much all about the gear and what is needed.
Yarp, MDR and PDR for the win...
