OP
I just tried building both icy veins Nova sorcs on single player. 200 faster cast and the Infinity build. They both run out of mana in seconds on p8 non Terror zone and then die. Even in like a2 Rocky Waste … and this is with a full inventory of skills and rare items that likely don’t even exist.
I’ll see what happens with the FOH you suggested.
Right now the ES warlock with Obsession/Phoenix is just the best… I can do a Chaos run in 1 minute flat, never use potions. I can go afk and let monster just hit me. I have a macro for BO at the start, and then I just keep Teleport on on one side, ES on the other.. no swapping, just simple play
It’s funny the hate I’m getting for buying items. No, on single player I could just import whatever items I want. Hell, so many people play modded games on SP. at least online keeps you relatively honest. Sorry, but I have more money than time. I’d rather be in that position than the opposite.

For me, it’s the one that never dies and doesn’t take long to clear areas. I’m getting close with the warlock
Just play hardcore, then you never die

To me it sounds like you're looking for dungeon crawler, hack and slash, some character growth, but more layback than what Diablo usually gives. It sounds like you have played every staple build, but no build is giving you what you want, including Mosaic and warlock, both of which are some of the most controversial changes in this game since the addition of runewords. The powercreep you're looking for is there, but it's not laidback enough.
I understand p8 is the end goal, but you are saying you want to relax to a degree where you're literally gaming in bed, for comfort, with a torch and anni as your only charms. If you just want the power fantasy of ripping things to shreds, p8 is overrated. If you want to get gear, p8 is better but it does not sound like farming items is enjoyable, as it takes too long. I completely get not wanting to do 400 Meph runs to target farm a Shako, or run keys for days to sell torches until you can afford upgrades, but what enjoyable to you?
How fun is the online aspect to you? Do you care more about the game, or the community aspect? Spending money on items is an opportunity, but as you said, the price tag is too high on the items you want, so where it the good spot between "overpowered" and "cheap enough", and is that sufficient?
If other players are not mandatory for you to enjoy playing, I would honestly suggest looking into single player with mods. You can increase monster density for faster kills. Increase the drop rates by 2x, and that'll still make you farm for months. You can make all items drop with max stats, which helps you get the power fantasy going earlier on.
If you wanna go full "bonk first, think later", there's also the mod "Fused Uniques for D2RMM" where all unique items can spawn on any item, *including jewels*. You can get a Tal Rasha helmet socketed with a Shako jewel. Now *that's* power.
If you do this, start slow, as overdoing the powercreep will make the game boring.
What do you want, why do you want it, how can you get it within your limits?

Rocky Waste? you mean the area that is stuffed to the gills with lightning immunes? those guides usually tell you which tzs to prioritize and which to avoid fyi...StoBeast wrote: 3 days agoI just tried building both icy veins Nova sorcs on single player. 200 faster cast and the Infinity build. What guide you use? 200fcr is glasscannon build, 105% is enough.StoBeast wrote: 3 days agoI just tried building both icy veins Nova sorcs on single player. 200 faster cast and the Infinity build. You put most points in energy? you also maxed Telekinesis as Energy Shield synergy? You got max resists? you got a Cure/Insight merc? You got 2x Soj?
I leveled an ES sorc pre rotw to 99 and NEVER had Mana issues, even on 8 player shared games. Only problem is Blood Mana in A5.

Well, that’s the point, isnt it? I don’t want to be limited to certain areas of the game. That is one of the dumbest things that was done to d2. You should be able to use any character to clear the entire game… and none of this “let the mercenary kill it” crap. It’s a game. I don’t want to have 8 different characters to finish it. I don’t even want a mercenary.
I think TZs are great. Nothing kills enjoyment of a game like 1000 Baal runs. TZ offers actual play through ability while leveling your character and finding items. P8 is required… I did 83 p8 Baal runs yesterday for 92-93 30 min was TZ (tz should just be an option). That’s mind numbing.
OP
I don’t want to mod the game or play offline. I want the ability to play with others, and I don’t want the insanity of open battle.net of old. I don’t have the discipline to have the ability to hack my character and not do it to extremes. Online keeps you honest. I don’t mind paying for items, and it realized I was overpaying… found another site, like 1.50$ per Jah, so, it will be cheap to buy whatever I wantOGwold wrote: 3 days agoTo me it sounds like you're looking for dungeon crawler, hack and slash, some character growth, but more layback than what Diablo usually gives. Ultimately, I want to spec one character with $ that will fund the others. I will end up needing to buy another copy of the game. Raven Claw and Enchant are absolutely needed for low levels, and being able to rush yourself from 0-80 in one day is ideal. Back when I played classic, I had 8 cd keys and filled my own games. It was much easier to do back then. Hell, that’s when uniques had no level requirement—it should have stayed that way.
I want to make as many characters as I can that can clear all content by themselves, no merc (they die anyway) and no full inventory.
I think the power creep came with the difficultly creep. It was stupid to ever make monsters that are immune. Ruins the play value IMO.
I think I’m getting close. This warlock is shaping up. I just need very tanky builds that deal high damage.
Also it may be a little controversial but have you considered trying things like Project Diablo 2 or Diablo 2 Resurrected:Reimagined.
In the case of Project Diablo 2 you would need to buy original keys and follow some pretty easy instructions to get set up on that. It has multiplayer, trade systems, etc. It is definitely a fun mod that adds a whole lot of of build variety to the various classes in the game. There is a lot of different end game content that is not present in D2R. It definitely is pretty cool, but different than vanilla D2R.
Reimagined is very similar to PD2, but the main difference is that you cannot play it online as it still uses the modern graphics that come with Resurrected. Also a fun change of pace.
These might provide some of what you are looking for that you aren't getting with regular D2R. One thing I will say about PD2, is that it can be pretty difficult. The end game bosses in that game are pretty tough and require really good items to kill, but is super satisfying.

About the pay-per-gear :
As for your choice to pay, why not, that's your call. Not my playstyle for sure, but everyone has the right to make it its own way.
The fact that this way is also badly seen is it necessarily finances botters.
However, the amount you paid seems awfully expensive. With something like 10 to 20 Jah, you can reasonably gear any character with something very acceptable (sure you won't have 45 life skillers, but with 30 life you can get the same dps and still a very decent survivability)
About the character to play :
- Warlocks are super popular now but very expensive
- If you wanna play sorcs, they work really fine as for speed of farming and "can play everywhere". However, they tend to be glass cannons, but if you play well enough they should not die a lot - mine met once or twice deaths with souls, but that's it. if you want a build that plays while also watching the TV, sure, you need something tankier and auto-play like a summoner necro or druid, but those are not fast - their "auto-pilot" makes for their clear speed. So that's your call.
Should you wanna stay on sorcs, Nova sorc with self-wield Infi + Vipermagi + Griffon + Memory or CTA on swap is excellent, surprisingly tanky, though you don't have much space left for mf - she must be around 100 to 200, still decent.
