This is the best Amazon weapon I have ever found. I want to confirm it.
If it is useful, how should it be used? Thanks for your suggestions!
A use case for an ethereal thunderstroke is ubers. thunderstroke is the best weapon for ubers, outperforming even 6 40 javs, provided you can make up the 25ias difference. since you are not gonna use lightning fury on ubers (because it barely tickles them), you won't have to worry about your tstrokes running out. ethereal ones also require less stat points spent on dex and str, which means more life for your java. but good luck finding an ethereal perfect tstroke. you might find 6 40 javs before that.

sorry for undigging an old topic, maybe it's better than to make a new one
do ethereal throwing weapons have hidden durability? i think i read it somewhere
because i found a +4 sk 30 ias ethereal with replenishment and lvl 30 requirement recently, and wonder if i may poke the bad guys with it

My understanding is that quantity works as durability for melee attacks, i.e. when a durability loss is rolled it simply reduces quantity by 1. Which kind of makes sense, you poked with this Javelin until it broke and then picked up a new one from the stack. It should be the same for Eth and non-Eth throwing weapons.
Usually available after 21CET. Most of my Expansion trades can be converted to RotW, just ask.
Yes, quantity will reduce when stabbing. The marked answer to this question is somewhat wrong because they will run out still.
All trades are negotiable within reason Check out my "Free Stuff" tab for...FREE STUFF! I can help with DClone/Ubers/Ancients/Socket Rushes, just ask! Please only add me on bnet if you contact me here first.
Items with quantity do have a hidden durability value (in addition to the quantity itself). You can't tell what it is (in-game I mean). Whenever you hit something in melee the weapon may lose 1 durability (not 1 quantity), and when durability reaches 0, it deducts 1 from the quantity. The durability value on throwing weapons is rather low - for example, it's only 2 for normal javelins, so just 2 hits causing durability loss is enough to lose 1 quantity. Ceremonial Javelin (Titan's Revenge) and Matriarchal Javelin (Thunderstroke) both have 6 durability when non-ethereal, should be 4 when ethereal (durability/2+1).
From Amazon Basin:
Throwing weapons have 10% chance of reducing weapon durability by 1 with each successful melee attack. However, their hidden durability values apply to each weapon in a stack individually, so when one is reduced to Durability 0, stack size is reduced by one. Thus a throwing weapon's effective maximum Durability when used as a melee weapon is its maximum durability * maximum stack size: for example, each Javelin in a stack has Durability 2 and maximum stack size is 60, resulting in effective maximum Durability 120 (2*60). [4]
Since Thunderstroke has quantity = 120 the max durability when ethereal is 120*4=480, and since chance of durability loss is 4% per hit, you should be able to attack with it 12000 times before it breaks. Not sure how it works with Charged Strike though, if the durability loss can only happen on an actual hit (the Charged Strike effect always applies, but the physical strike requires a successful hit-check), in that case you can attack even more before it breaks.
