-Enemy Cold Res on Blizz Sorc

Is there a limit to the amount of resistance a mob can have in d2r? At a certain point, is it pointless to continue stacking -enemy cold resistance when I have well over 200%? Had done some research and gotten some answers that implied that after like 220 or so, it was pointless because of the limits that mobs have but wanted to get a second opinion from the forums..

Believe I saw something that said that enemies will Cap out at -100% res as well? Am strictly a PVE player on p1 basically only

The main reason I am asking is for gear concerns.. not needing to get a -10/+10 jewel is so much cheaper when I could get -5/+10, you know?

the lowest resistance a monster can have is -100, but it is NOT pointless to overstack 200, as Cold Mastery works 1/5 as well on sundered immunes(not how facets or similar work, just Cold Mastery)

Monsters cannot have less than -100% resistances.

Keep in mind that there is still value to very high levels of Cold Mastery - when an enemy is immune to cold, and you break the immunity with a Cold Rupture (or Latent Cold Rupture / Renewed Cold Rupture in RotW), it leaves them at +95% resistances and Cold Mastery only works at 1/5 effectiveness. So say you have -220% from Cold Mastery, vs a sundered foe that will only result in them having +51% resistance (95 - 220/5).

Vs monsters that aren't cold immune, there's little purpose of having more than -195% on Cold Mastery, but you'll generally be fighting a mixture of cold immunes and non-immunes.

in 1 p, both jewel is perform the same, so just pick cheaper one. Unless you can sacrify other socket without use cold facet and put Cold Mastery low.

In the case of invest Cold Mastery more than 10, they are same. even fight with cold immunity, 3 shot kill still 3 shot kill.

And you really dont use it to fight uber.
Even you fight regular Baal, both performance will same.

Before you put big money into something, please make sure you run simulator, or do real test in field, see if it is 1 bit hp left in monster.
Otherwise it will be useless upgrade.
