Some forums show a warning when one starts to write in an old thread, that would probably discourage most unwarranted dabbling into the dark arts (without needing to hide old threads).

The answer is because you're not crafting enough caster amulets or crafting sockets into base weapons.

I sometimes believe there are specific times biased towards different runes. Sometimes I get 10 Ral in a row, sometimes 10 Sol, sometimes Ort. Overall my total runes keep rising in the same-ish rate, including occasional crafting. I rarely trade for mats so when I find enough for a session, it naturally built up enough of all mats, depending on what I'm crafting
