I'm a noob at rushing as well. Tried to rush some players in Normal a long time ago and I think I really messed up. First my merc (with Insight - I needed that for TP) killed Andariel too quickly and then something similar happened with Duriel. Entered his chambers first and Duriel was dead already by the time the rushees came in. Not my finest hour.
How to avoid a merc killing a boss too quickly? @Deckard Cain

This one doesn't actually matter. To the person being rushed it will look like the quest failed if Duriel is killed before he/she joins the boss room ("This quest cannot be completed in this game") - but for Duriel specifically, if the rushee talks to Tyrael inside the tomb it overrides the quest status and fixes it. After talking to Tyrael the quest will say "Talk to Jerhyn" and everything works as normal.
As for Andariel, just make the TP in a corner (it can be in the entry room with the stairs!) and wait for the rushee to show up before proceeding to engage Andariel. There's no risk of the merc wandering off to kill Andariel if the TP is that far from Andariel.
I'm in CET (Central European Time)
My profile says Ladder, but I play bothLadder and Non-Ladder.
My profile says Softcore, but I play bothSoftcore and Hardcore.

The basic Principle is "it doesn't matter who kills something but someone who is eligible for the quest needs to be nearby".
Ac5:
- Rusher opens TP near shenk, rushee zones in, rusher kills shenk.
it changed a bit, one char with quest to be done must be in the Area, not nearby
e.g. for act 1 Andariel you can stay at the stairs, act 2 you need 1 people in the "upper room" not with Duriel, etc, act V one char in last room far from Baal
for Shenk the Overseer you can even have everyone in town, not even need someone at the bottom of the stairs as it used to be

That doesn't sound right.
I've had shenk fail on me more than just a few times because my rusher went and killed him without opening a TP while i was sitting in town.
And that includes multiple relatively recent rushes.
Unless they literally changed it with RotW, then maybe, might've been before then.
I did a hundred times witout any problem
Im not on RotW
and it even works with the cinematics between act IV and V playing (note the char appears in town while not even really there)
so either they changed it quite recently either it failed you for other reason
NB I rush myself for Normal/Nightmare/Hell doing hellforge hell for runes
and it works each time on every difficulty level with my other chars being in town, only the rusher killing Schenk alone
that's the only differnece I can think of but should not impact the quest as for the server its different players !?
NB 2 the char being rushed always create the game, not sure if it works if the rusher creates the game (never tried this way)!?

BTW if you create a team count me in
I do it by myself and it takes me some time because I need to do everything alone
and I'd like to see other people doing the rush to see if I dont miss anything like
Actually, you can get 7 staff/organ sets out of each rush. If you need 49 sockets, that's totally worth it.
which I dont fully understand (I think I got it but only works on Normal as you need a bumper for other levels, right ?)
(e.g. act 2 the rusher can create a TP in Harem Level 1 so rushees can just take portal to go Duriel > Jerhyn > Meshif, saving running in town)
