the AM/PM format is confusing, Im probably not the only one.
I was looking at the uber clone walk posts and got confused is 12AM like at night? because I know am is night time right?
but apparenly its noon.
could we have an option in the profile settings to select between 11:23pm/ 23:23:00 format for the forum clock?

Yeah, 24h format would really help us poor europeans to quickly grasp the times...
I will not take offers that bypass diablo2.io
Maybe it depends on the region set in the profile (ucp.php?i=197) but I have everything in the 24h format.

This timestamp has been automatically converted to your local date/time for convenience. The format is DD/MMM/YYYY, HH:MM am/pm. This is based off your browser time.

[utctolocal] [/utctolocal] must be in UTC time (GMT). I.e., without any time zone modifier. It then displays the time based on each viewer's time zone setting, but it needs UTC input so it knows what time it represents (this is normal in IT, store values in UTC time and then just display according to time zone setting). If you put your own local time in between [utctolocal] [/utctolocal] then it will assume it's UTC, and then add the time zone modifier on top of that when you're viewing it. This is explained in the help:

On topic - I think allowing the user to select display format would be a nice addition.
Where I live we only use 12h format in informal conversation/text (eg. "something happens at 7" - it's usually implied whether it means am or pm), never for actual timestamps, in schedules, calendars, etc, so it's a bit weird seeing it that way on the site here.
I think @Teebling is using a standard JavaScript function to do the timezone Conversion and to choose a display format, but I think it should be possible to allow the user to pick a display format (perhaps from a couple different presets?) just like they can choose time zone. Deciding for the user is usually not the best way to go.
