Open Online Games in RotW

Hi

Before RotW, I usually created open online games (so other player could join, each could farm on their own, and we gain the players N bonus - and if the other player insisted on farm the same area, I could just create a new game )

Now with Hearlds and Shard on RotW, create an "open", seems a bit risky...

Like, the

Herald might spawn because of you, but closer to the other player
And with shard, you can't simply create a new game if another player starts farming in the areas you want....

So it's harder to farm players N without a prior agreement with other players

Imo the entire design of shards and

Herald spawning makes it even less of a multiplayer game than the age old broken chat + shared loot + too easy even alone did combined.

People will be people, that's online gaming for you. Blizzard could easily make the /players command doable in online games that are launched directly from the character selection screen. I don't know why they never implemented this, but it would solve a lot of player grievances.

As obvious as the failed "multiplayer" design is, I figured I should at least actually bother to confirm the obvious assumptions as correct.
So went and joined me some public sharding.

Much to no surprise whatsoever, as soon as an ire hit, all you saw (watching on the map for curiosity's sake) was people immediately all scout-teleporting to trigger it for themselves. And when they failed, at least a couple went off to steal the

Herald from whomever did proc it.

So yeah, no surprise whatsoever, absolutely counterproductive and anti-mutliplayer.

But hey, I did manage to get one myself at a far off corner of a zone neither of the

Herald-thieves apparently knew how to find (sucks to not know which cave is which I guess ^^) and after cheesing the f out of that there P8

Herald (necro = ez mode), it did actually drop me a

Latent Flame Rift so...there is that...seems that was the only latent in the game though.

This has been a problem with public games.

I'm open to starting a coordinated group here so we can farm heralds efficiently and without loot stealing.

Could be fun with a group full of non-

Herald-stealy people.
