I have edited all my trades because of this thread so there's that.

Thing is, checking the price of every single item takes time, more than I am willing to give for a trade.

Not out of disrespect as some of you angry people seem to think but because between work, kids, other hobbies than video games, and chores, spending time doing what is essentially administrative work takes the fun away from the game.

I added a base price to most of my items but if you feel like it's too expensive, offer me what you feel is right and I might just accept!

Angry? No, definitely no. More of indifference and general "moving on now" attitude.

You'll get a lot more completed trades with the change. Seriously.

Also, I totally get where you are coming from. It is a lot of work. Frustrating work. But you were essentially passing that work onto someone else.

Edit - Well I'm not angry but it does seem like others are very frustrated. That frustration probably stems from putting in offers, getting told its not good enough, and then that's that. Its a waste of time.

Will buy any 3 minor keys for an
Ist
- message me.
Will accept statues and keys instead of rune payments for my trades.

Its like going to a grocery store and instead of seeing prices tags on the items everything says "make offer". Ok, how about 5 bucks for my whole shopping cart?
I think the better comparison for d2r trade would be going to trade show n random people offer their items for sale, like those olden eastern bazaar markets where people offer random shlt for sale Or even the current flea market :)

But at the end of the day, seller should place a bin on widely traded items when possible.

Rare and niche items, i think its reasonable for seller to put “lf offers” then once there are a few offers roll in, seller should then set a bin or at least set a reserve.

Just my take.

Can trade on PC or SWITCH

When I offer an item and have a grasp of its value I always put a BIN price in the trade (LF...). Usually I first check recent completed trades on this site and on traderie. I then try to put the BIN at a value which is on the average or slightly above. For rare items it can be quite difficult to assess the price and in this "rare" occasions I simply ask for offers.

With items below a couple of
Ist
I use the following Pattern (I adjust the numbers according to what I need at the moment and put the value accordingly):
  • LF 1x XXX OR
  • a mix and match from the list below with a total value of XXX

This is complete bullshit and im not even sorry for saying this.

If someone asks offer, YOU GIVE THEM YOUR OFFER. What YOU think you might be able to pay for it. I dont care if its "real price" of the item. Just give YOUR offer. Personally accepting pretty much always what ever people offer even if its lowballing because im not interested in keeping the trade items in stash / storage.

If I ask for something specific then I only accept only that what im asking.

Its not that hard to go look from either diablo2io's own trades or traderie trades to figure out approximately what something is worth.

if u post "LF offers" i will offer 1 p gem lol
more than likely i'll just buy it from someone else who does list their asking price.

too often there is too much back and forth over an item that is only a few gems to an
Ist
. such a waste of time.

when i'm selling an item, 95% of the time i'll look at what others are asking for and sell mine for one gem less just to get rid of it.

pretty much the only time i ask for offers is when i'm selling a torch or a well rolled runeword worth at least a
Jah
.

If youre malicious this way, do that. I try to offer fair price no matter what when trading.
Often times the trader asking for offer does not know the prices either. Hence they leave "taking offers" into the message.

Tbh, i'm somewhat lazy and unknowing regarding prices, so my hope is the buyer will provide with an answer, plus I don't mind offloading stuff somewhat cheaply

Often times traders do respond if you ask what they would like to have for something if they have the taking offers mentioned with their own request even from time to time. A lot of people who ask for offer from the buyer; they are willing to accept pretty much anything offered if its just somewhat decent offer.

I get your point.
One could also argue that when we are talking low items, expecting anyone to do more is about you not them.
For items with worth and value for me i will look up the price and state what i am asking for, but for 90% of items especially on start of ladder in a new dlc.
If you want that mediocre item for pgems or whatever, then stating a price or what you want to pay for it is up to you.
As most of those items will be deleted at some point anyway, or given away as freebies.

We can always look at things in one single way or many directions, it os a choice.
Their is always going to be many new players in a new dlc, exp or season, and we should be grateful for that.

We could also ask the system to automatically put in the everage price for any item posted with the post.
We could update the internal messsaging system, to be more like a onscreen sms thing, when it is regarding posts within a sale, enabling faster communication within the sales.

Then i also get rid of most of the people from americas, constantly adding me without posting anything on the post, trying to bid same or less than is allready bid and so on.
We can point fingers in all directions and generalise all we want.

But as my grandmoter would say:
If you dont have solutions for your problems, then they are not problematic enough, or maybe talk less about your problems until you find a solution.
Bickering about issues without solutions is simply that, ranting.
You dont create change with force or expectations, only resistance vs change :).

All offers go on the site

Ladder, Softcore, Pc, Europe

Before I set a price on any item, I do my price check homework first. I adopt the buyer mentality when deciding the final price. Usually my items gets sold faster, hence rolling more profits.

If you offer 1 p gem I will ignore you. That doesn't even deserve a response. Seriously, what do you even think you're accomplishing with that? You strike me as somebody who is incredibly immature and spiteful for what you perceive to be some massive injustice against you. It's really not a big deal. Grow up. In fact, because of the mentality you've demonstrated over multiple posts here, I am going to be blocking you so that I never sell to or buy from you.

If im looking for a
Shako
or something else not very expensive, ill skip all trades that have - lf offer - and try to find 1 with a BiN price, and it looks like some others are also just skipping these trades.

I will only be bidding/offering on very expensive items that are - lf offers - that i want.

Mod view:
- as seller, you are allowed to put "lf offers"
- most frequent case is "I don't know the price to put". The super high value stuff everyone agréés that lf offers is fine
- but this site has:
> a price history for all bases and uniques and runewords and misc
> a price check search bar in the price check section for blue items
> only things that are hard to estimate are rares, crafted and some weird cases (e.g. bases with auto-mods), for which you can ask a manuel price check that will get an answer usually within 3 days
- therefore, as seller, it's your call: try to give a price, even if it's a bit off too high (if after a month you see nothing, you should probably lower!) or too low (super fast trade and you learn), or leave as is. Just be aware that your trade duration is most likely 10x longer than if you give a price, even a wrong one (really, as many said, I usually skip all non priced and only come back if there is nothing else).

You're free, but as a mod, strongly advice to price, it's easier for everyone when you get used to it.

Typical prices for me are:
- low but usable : 3 pgems
- not too bad : 3 pamethysts or
Key

- interesting :
Ist

- niiice : 3-4
Ist
or
Ohm
-
Lo

- great :
Ber
-
Jah

- high end : the sky is the limit

Hope that helps

TBH lot of people can not read :) (recently the RotW DLC killed some trades of mine, because buyers simply don't see that I do not have that thing yet).
I am open to bargain, and have a lot of "garbage" which I think someone could use. I put an item on trade when it worth 8
Perfect Gems
/ 1
Pul
according to the trade history and ask for lower price. And you know what? I see that when I do ask for a certain price, then everyone go forward to the next. When I ask for offer, then sometimes I can sell these things.
The fun fact is that my last few trades were in game to people who has no account here.
For example +1barb masteries 43life GC was here in the trade market for 8days without any reaction. At the right time it was minutes to sell it in game for the asked 2
Jah
.
But the in game selling is a pain in the ass. You create a game like "ObarbskillGC" desc: "masteries +43life N 2Jah" and wait... As long you wait the right person, you can not make another game, so you do something else (I usually go around and kill diablo, trav, pindle, summoner, ...). So this option is viable only for high value / popular items.

TBH I don't understand why it is so hard to make an offer. I ask a
Pul
, you say it is worth only 6
Perfect Gems
for you. If it is OK for me, I will accpet. If it is not, then nothing happens. If I don't tell the price and you offer 2
Perfect Gems
, it could be fine too, much better then selling to NPC for 35k
Gold
. Mostly my stuff are things that I see in the trade history (price checker), but not worth too much.

I don't have RotW expansion yet.
When I look for rune, you can offer
Perfect Gems
as well.
I live in Europe/Budapest timezone.

Another thing quite annoying, perhaps a little off topic, is the TRUST after trade.
Often has happened that you finish trading someone and they wont even bother trusting the trade once its closed. I always go and trust the buyer / seller if the trade has been completed without issues.

This just bothers me and I hate my head for it.
7
I am a new player, and try to look at historical prices, and the last three day sales. I try to adjust the price, if I see it has changed, but I have not played d2 for 15 years or more, so for me, It is a hard climb. I've had some posts with lf offer, and changed them, but I often miss the current price, so I try and adjust after it.

So I am one who've had an item for sale for a LF offer - but I try to adjust. Just so you know, that we are not all experienced after coming back to the game after several years or over a decade.
7
There are three types of buyers I am aware of
  • Those actually interested in the item
  • Those interested in flipping the item here or on traderie or wherever
  • Those interested in scamming the seller
Those interested in the item will hopefully be motivated enough to bid.
Those trying to flip the item will be interested in a precise price and possibly a quick trade.
Those trying to scam will also react to prices that are above the market price.

So by setting a buyout when you're unsure about the value you're inviting the latter two types. I couldn't care less about whether they complain or not.

I will not take offers that bypass diablo2.io
7
It’s a free world and it is not against the rules as the mods have stated to post Lf offers.

That being said, there are community norms and certain choices can add or remove friction to the process of trading.

My worst case is a certain individual who had posted: make an offer. After my offer they replied with: add more. To which i replied thank you for your time.

There are many legit reasons why people post lf offers. As many here have mentioned, being new or not having time to research the price, I would even grant that being lazy is legit.

However i think the above individual falls into a special malicious category of the master haggler wannabe, which ends up annoying and boring. Relax dude you are not trading apple stock, it’s just pixels.

In any case the solution that worked for me is that for the sake of peaceful coexistence, accept that people will post this way and we cannot change it by much. Some people here already understood that it’s common courtesy to post a price, especially for non expensive items. Others will remain lazy, or incurable wannabes and will never change. If I don’t engage with them, the less brain cells I burn and the more fun trading is.

Good luck, and good hunting

All trades are RotW (dlc)

I recently got back in the game, and wanted to clear my stashes so I put some items to sell, without asking price.

The main reason is because I consider value relies more in the eye of the buyer, but that's because my intent is mainly to... well, make some room, and did not realise it could be seen as disrespectful or inconvenient.

In any case, I thank you for you post and will give it more thoughts.
