Trying to farm Baal statue is a joke. The worldstone keep usually only gets terrorized once a day. Meanwhile other random areas get terrorized 3 sometimes 4 times a day. 30 minutes to try to farm a statue where the average run takes 4-5 minutes if you're teleporting. Maybe 3 minutes if you're very lucky. I was fortunate enough to notice the upcoming TZ to be worldstone, so i set it up for the last wave of Baal to be alive just as the terrorization began. Needless to say i did not get a statue. You could make the same argument for Chaos Sanctuary. At least those runs can be done in ~1 minute. But the rotation rate is still abysmal.
How is the average person supposed to acquire this bloody statue? One has to drop everything they're doing and dedicate 30 minutes to stressful teleporting and farming.
I don't want the game to tell me when i should play. I know people have made this criticism since Terror zones came out. But now tying an endgame crafting component to it is a step too far.
You can farm keys ANY time. Statues should be able to drop any time you kill these bosses--perhaps at a lower rate. When a boss is terrorized it should significantly increase your chances.,
I'm sure people have said all of this before.
This is a game i have LOVED since i was 11 years old played D2 Classic and i hate to see it turn this way. It feels very antithetical to Blizz North game design

Can be used to make Runewords:

I agree, 30 minutes is too little, I miss the 1h long TZs

This might not be much of a fix, but in the Durance TZ earlier today Meph dropped a Buk-Kathos, Madawc's, and Korlic's so it seems that Meph can drop more statues than I originally believed possible.Pequod wrote: 11 hours agoTrying to farm Baal statue is a joke. They can all drop 3 each, specific ones (basically the surrounding acts). 90% chance of native act, 5% chance on the other two. Andy and Duriel can drop act 1, 2, 3; Meph drops 2, 3, 4; and Diablo and Baal drop 3, 4, 5. I think I have all that right, it's listed on the boss pages here.mhlg wrote: 9 hours agoThis might not be much of a fix, but in the Durance TZ earlier today he dropped a Buk-Kathos, Madawc's, and Korlic's so it seems that Meph can drop more statues than I originally believed possible.Pequod wrote: 11 hours agoTrying to farm Baal statue is a joke. Indeed
Getting all statues as well as getting Sunders is a very hard and stressful task if you cannot play the game anytime and for more than an hour at a time.
Wife: "Honey, the kids are hungry. Shall we make dinner?"
Me: "Sure, I´ll be right there... Oh wait, Worldstone Keep is TZ in half an hour. Can they hold out for another hour and a half?"
Wife: "WTF?????????"
Even I recognize that this is bonkers
Therefore, I currently try to farm five more Worusk's End (which could take a few weeks), do ten Colossal Summit and then put this project on hold for the time being. Concerning the new Sunders I do not even try until they will make any substantial changes. Maybe I grind and sometime simply buy one for my Chars.

I prefer the 30 minute TZs. If the duration was increased to an hour again, it would just be more stressful.
The colossal jewels are gated by how fast you can farm WSK. For a while i was thinking that the frequency for WSK should be increased in the TZ rotation. Now i am thinking, that this would just increase the stress level for me. I would need to drop everything and farm d2 more often.
If the drop odds for the statues were more equal, i would feel like i have to farm all of these zones. Now i only need to look out for WSK.

30 minutes would be alright, but they could just make the drop rates better...
Ive been wondering if the shards etc. take spots from rune drops because normally at this point of gaming id be with Enigma and what not... Now havent been able to get that because nothing f-cking drops. Note that ive been playing a lot more than normally do when playing. This makes no sense to me that this season would be so bad rng that I get absolutely nothing, think they just changed the drop rates or the new things made changes to those somehow.

They could simply increase the drop rate for Baal or let Andy drop Worusk's End, too and increase the drop rate for this statue for Diablo and Andy to get a nearly even drop rate overall. Problem solved. Imo the problem is not the rarity per se but the uneven drop rates and the fact that you have to organize your schedule around the Terror Zones which makes this annoying.illdizposed wrote: 2 hours agoI prefer the 30 minute TZs. Agree with basically all of the above. None of the changes in warlock have any benefit for casual players. In fact, would go so far as to say that they are now punished.
The colossal jewels are actually not that hard to get, if you compare them to the odds of getting a facet. I don't think they should be more common overall.
I agree that forcing players to play during specific times of the day isn't good design. I like that there are things happening in the game, that make me play differently, while i am playing, but i don't like to be forced to play.
Farming TZ bosses should make it easier to get statues, but it should not be the only way. Terrorizing whole acts should make it easier to get latent sunders, but it should not be the only (realistic) way.

The overall thing is a shift towards the engagement oriented gameplay that plagues many modern online games (e.g. destiny 2), and it seems that is has cost them greatly in the long term.
Before, tz bosses were a bonus, you could still get a lot farming non tz bosses at your own pace, and if it happened to be TZ, great! Bonus chances!
Now, you HAVE to go for the TZ bosses as they gatekeep entry to an endgame activity. Notice that you do not need to do that with Uber Tristram, you can farm keys as you see fit. The current TZ bosses only system creates FOMO, which in turn benefits an engament type of gameplay, but FOMO, takes away from fun an freedom of play.
The duration of the TZ is more or less irrelevant, it’s its rarity that makes you feel you cannot miss it. Access to the endgame depends on two layers of RGN, getting the TZ AND getting the statue. More engagement, but is it more fun?
Similarly, the new sunder charm system is another shift towards engagement oriented gameplay. You HAVE to terrorize entire acts and play for at least an hour or more to farm heralds of Terror. While you do that you have zero freedom to switch farming activities within the game, let alone engage in one of the core mechanics of the game which is trading. You simply cannot leave because you are committed to your shard. Sure you are engaged but the fun is taking a hit.
I am all for rare drops, but the new sunder system again follows a layered RNG system that many modern game feature, one that is however, stacked against the player. Before, each drop had the potential to be an awesome story. Hey i got a griffon’s from Baal! Hey i got a perfect Death’s fathom from a random goon! Hey a Jah dropped at the entrance of Chaos Sanctuary! Now, i gotta farm for an hour for a chance at getting one to drop. Then i gotta be lucky for it to be the type that i want. Then i gotta roll it. Have you noticed how all dlc items from charms to other uniques have far more rollable attributes? Good luck getting what you need to drop. Moreover, good luck trading for one. You simply cannot get anything less than 10-15 Jah. A shitty griffon’s still works great and feels great when it drop, a shittily rolled sunder stings. And to get the sunder you have to additionally depend on rng to first get the shards to drop, which are also weighted with the one of act v being more difficult to get. How much act 1 can one take?
Engagement is not necessarily entertainment.
