Description

I had a question concerning the Bind Demon skill for the Warlock. I recently got some new gear upgrades that added an additional +3 to my warlock skills to include Bind Demon. I had a demon bound prior to putting these upgrades on.

My question is:

When putting gear upgrades on, does the Bind Demon get those upgrades applied to their damage, health, etc. etc. or do they need to get resummoned to apply?

My understanding of how it works for characters like the necro is that you would need to resummon the combatants for them to get the new stats by gear placed onto a character. I imagine that would be the same with the Warlock for goatmen, defiler, etc. Since the demon isn't "summoned" and persists from game to game, I wasn't sure if the same logic was true here or if it inherits the new stats as you place new gear on?

I ended up binding a new demon ( Holy Freeze/cursed, urdar, woot) since I placed the new gear on, so the new stats would have gotten added regardless. Nonetheless, I was curious if anyone knew how that mechanic works.

Increasing your Bind Demon skill levels won't boost your demon's basic stats. It adds some properties to your demon every 5 levels, capped at skill level 20.

On another thread here, was said/confirmed that all the bound Demon's characteristics are "snapshotted" at the time of binding... so changing your skills levels after will have no effect, even on a new game (this is different from Iron Golem's mechanic, which in practice is "re-summoned" each new game considering your current skills/equipment)

Therefore, you can equip some "+skill" items before the binding to keep a stronger minion 😉

(in particular, the bound Demon will neither gain nor lose affixes when your Bind Demon level increases or decreases...)

But each level increase to Bind Demon increases bonus damage received both as a % and as a +. I know about the properties like adding extra affixes on demons when you level the skill such as aura, extra strong, etc.

I was more curious about the increases to damage and how they were applied and whether or not they would need to be resummoned.

From what I understood from the other thread, everything is snapshotted... (this includes the bonus from Bind Demon, Blood Oath, Demonic Mastery, the monster level, monster difficult, and the "Terrorized" status) 🤔

So, if you are still leveling or upgrading equipment, you will need to replace your demon along the way after some upgrades....

That was my understanding, thanks for all the feedback! Thankfully I was able to replace my demon with another cursed one

So if you have skill at lvl 20 Bind Demon u get an aura but if you Bind Demon with an aura do they cancel or do they stack?

If you bind something that's already aura enchanted, they'll just keep their current aura

It's why Hephasto the Armorer is a popular choice for bind, asides from his toughness, as he can be target farmed for a Conviction or Fanaticism aura easier than most.

And as he naturally always have spectral hit (given by Bind Demon L15+) and Aura Enchanted (given by Bind Demon 20+), you don't need to have Bind Demon above L10, if you only care about the affixes part of the skill 😉
