Energy Shield randomly turning off when it shouldn't

Hey so 3 times today in a session I had my ES turn off when it definitely shouldn't have. One time was only 3 minutes or so after casting it (I use Memory to prebuff with a near 20 minute duration). My mana pool was not reduced to zero (or even close). I do have the incidents on video and reviewed them, didn't notice any reason for it to just turn off. The ES just simply turns off as if the timer ran out. In another case it was more like 5 minutes after casting, but in both cases it should have remained.

I can clip the moments if needed but I wanted to see if anyone else has noticed this issue lately, if this is some new bug. I've never had this happen.

EDIT: Here's the first time it happened in the session, which is even more egregious than the 2 times I mentioned above. You can see in the clip I refresh my ES in town and then it shuts off when I cast

Battle Orders only seconds later! The other two times it happened I was not casting BO, for the record!

So I went as close to frame by frame as I could and the only thing I can think of is skill cast interruption. In town you cast ES and then

Frozen Armor. But

Frozen Armor is cast to rapidly after ES that it looks like you interrupted the ES cast, causing it to not actually cast.
When you take the WP, ES disappears while you are casting BO/BC, as if the timer just ended - because it probably did.
To me it looks like you are just casting your other pre-buff skills too quickly and not letting the ES cast finish, therefor not actually recasting it like you think you are.
Bug again, its pretty hard to tell.

I ran into an issue trying to feed my mercenary a potion. I hit the potion and heard its corresponding sound, but my mercenary's life was still low, so I did it again twice, and again I heard the sound but the potion was not used, and then just like that my mercenary was gone. I experienced this in another game. I've also observed a few other anomalies as well, but my hypothesis is that it was caused by my PC and Blizzard servers going out of sync with each other. Since my internet connection is 500 MBS down and up, I suspect the issue is with Blizzard's servers response time, and this can also explain other issues. I'm sure you've noticed more than a few episodes of desynchronization while playing, especially while teleporting with your sorceress?

Had the same issue thats why I have some lifers and 75 res in all. I can stand some dmg, and give me time to tele out of there or instantly cast ES again.

I can only assume this is it, because I can't think of anything else. Weird that it happened to me 3 times today, and has never happened (to my recollection) before. I always cast both of those skills back to back like that. I guess I will make it a point to cast a little slower. You'd think it would have happened on the first cast of a run at some point and the ES wouldn't show up at all.

On the 3rd time it happened, I only noticed because I jumped into a pack and my ~650 HP went to about 12 LOL. Somehow got out of there and saved it but if I didn't have decent HP and res I would have been toast.

This is also now happening with

Hex Purge when I play my ES Warlock. Same situation. Long game, many zones, I rebuff myself periodically (before Hex runs out), including BO,

Consume, etc. Then, 30 seconds later, the Hex wears off lol. It's the same thing that happens to me with

Energy Shield if I do long games. I cannot figure out why this happens. I am not spamming all the skills in quick succession, sometimes I even cast it twice to be sure.

I have noticed some stutter and even rubberbanding a couple of times the last 3-4 days, I also had a rare serverside disconnect, so something is up at least some of the servers. I play on EU and like you, my connection is very likely not causing the problems.

Whenever I recast BO I have the habit of refreshing ES, Thunder, and Frozen Shield in that order. BO is like 2 or 3 min right? While my ES is 800+ seconds.

It would mean that I've refreshed BO 3 or 4 times without refreshing ES. Sure it might happen once but its unlikely I forgot on my end 3 or 4 times in a row multiple times. Usually at least once per session. I am anal about refreshing them each time I enter/exit at the moment because its gotten me killed right before leveling a few times.

I'm confident there is some kind of bug. I've also noticed I sometimes cast

Enchant and see the action but no flame effects and I wonder if that's related. Though in the ES situation I don't ever notice the movement without the effects.

Knew I wasn't crazy. This is exactly what happens to me, I even recast all my stuff in that order every time on the

Nova sorc lmao. On the Warlock it's a different order, the Hex is always last.

On my PS5 controller at least, I notice I occasionally hit buttons and nothing happens. But the lack of sound or animation tips me off.

I usually overcast ES, just because if it's gone it can be near instant Death.

I don't bother casting TS or FS.

I came here because I noticed the same problem, 100% sure I did slowly recast ES but if stopped way too early.

I just learned from another mechanic which likely caused the issue for me:

If you recast ES on a lower level than the original cast, it's not renewed!

So probably better not recast ES when buffed by a skill shrine...

Yeah I just always cast ES as part of my BO order, it's easier to do that than try to have a separate timer in my head for ES. And if you think ES is on and it's not, it can be near instant Death.

Separately - is it really worth the time to cast Frozen Shield once fully geared? Sure it's just a split second, but ES

Nova sorc doesn't really fear anything except gloams, and it won't help with that. Maybe can help against T-5

Herald archers, I haven't fought enough of those with my ES

Nova sorc to know if they are a concern.

I don't see why not, it takes like a third of a second to cast it. I usually pre-buff ES in town with my Memory staff, and cast FS at the same time. Defense is defense, if it's free I'll take it!
