Vigilance is a new runeword added in the Reign of the Warlock expansion.

It can be made in any 2 socket shield (though will most often be made in a

Grimoire for the +Warlock skills), with

Dol and

Gul runes, in that order.

The runeword looks useful for Warlocks wanting to bolster their defensive stats, offering generous resistance, block, life, and defense modifiers.

Missing CbF, FCR or MF, the Shield is inferior to Rhyme, Splendor and

Ars Dul'Mephistos.
There's no real need to build this Shield.

Vigilance is aimed at

Poison Dagger Necromancers and Warlocks that want to focus on

Mirrored Blades.

It is however, not a very good use of

Gul. Melee Necromancers will find that

Poison Dagger Shrunken Heads will lack defense rating due to how auto mods interact with item levels.

If you really need stronger defensive stats on your melee Necromancer or Warlock, then Sanctuary is much better as it offers Faster Hit Recovery and increased Chance to Block as well. Plus it is MUCH cheaper to make.

Melee Warlocks doesn't really need skill modifiers as their damage comes mostly from damage rating on gear rather than skills.

This Rune Word is rather strange. If you really want resistances plus skillers then Spirit is infinitely better in price and effect.
