A 9 day gap between season end and next season start? Is that normal? haven't played ladder in a long time.

Nope. Maybe they are really changing something? Could be a major hardware/backend change. Would be sweet if they'd get rid of some bugs.

The gap between ladder resets is unusual. That points to a potential PTR for substantial changes. Hopium is getting full

I don't know how you might have missed it, but they confirmed the other day that there will be changes - we just don't know what yet.

Next week Wednesday will be a 30th Anniversary Spotlight live stream, where they will be talking about upcoming changes across all Diablo games. And in the announcement video about this, they very specifically and deliberately confirmed that there will be changes to D2R. As if they thought that if they hadn't said so specifically, nobody would have believed there would be anything happening to D2R.

From the post, I didnt see any changes, in past, they announce it with it. This usually means 'no change' .

I guess it is probably some of their staff hospitalize makes the original schedule impossible.

There will be a live stream on Wednesday (Thursday morning if you’re in Asia) where they will present upcoming changes to all Diablo games, including D2R. The post didn’t include the changes because they will announce it on a live stream. They’re doing this to celebrate the Diablo series 30th anniversary.
