Why the base weapon's very fast attack speed was not preserved?

I've finally decided to cook a Last Wish weapon, and as with BotD I prefer an Axe. Since War Spike is naturally faster than Berserker Axe, I thought this should do. However, after a mediocre roll I also discovered the resulting weapon got only fast attack speed. How come the base speed was not preserved like with Phase Blade it would?

Ah, right. I found the War Spike with an assassin, and used a rune holder druid to fill the sockets. Silly me. The original post would not have happened if I paid sufficient attention to the change in the item's characteristics.
It’s like when non-assassins look at Claws and see that they are all very slow - they’re not, not really - most are actually very fast (a few are just fast) xD
(that’s probably the most extreme case of different apparent attack speeds)

Only assassins can see kick damage on Boots. And even they can't see kick damage on set Boots
I'm willing to accept other forms of currency. Like Tokens, Keys, Perfect Gems, and certain minor runes in lieu of my asking price. I'm also willing to accept rune combinations that add up to my asking price.
