Attract can't be overridden by other curses so I'll throw it on a Unique or Champion boss then hit the minions with Iron Maiden. It keeps them distracted for a moment while I spam spells. This is really only good at lower to mid levels. Once you get some good gear and a number of skill points in your Bone skills, then this combo takes too long and Spear/Spirit will kill fast enough that it's not really worth it.
Attract is AWESOME. The issue, IMO, is that monsters don't live long enough in Players 1 (online solo) for it to be too relevant. Most of the time, you use Attract/Confuse to avoid getting hit by ranged attackers and, for that role, Confuse is typically better (bigger range, more targets).
However, when playing with my offline Bone necro in Players 7-8, the game is completely different. Bone necro damage is low enough that you now have to play more strategically, and Attract becomes really good to deal with powerful monsters with a lot of health. My main use case for it is in Baal's Throne Room, especially against Lister the Tormentor and friends.
IMO, the game isn't really made for gameplay where battlefield control is important, generally speaking, but necro curses like Decrepify, Confuse, and Attract are some of the best tools for that. Combined with Bone Wall and Bone Prison, Bone necros probably have the best battlefield control in the game, but unfortunately that's not typically how the game is played. Playing with a Bone necro in high player numbers offline is a completely different experience and one I find quite fun.

I haven't run summoner since the 1.10 days back when I was only SSF and we didn't have the /players command. The tactical aspect sounds genuinely interesting instead of just chasing DPS. I will definitely need to resurrect my summon necro and try it out.
