Description

Quest

The Blackened Temple claims that the reward for this quest is Access to the Durance of Hate. However, as seen in these two videos:

...a recent speedrun video for D2R:

- Normal difficulty: 1:03:39
- Nightmare: 2:41:35
- Hell: 3:32:33

... and an old speedrun video guide at 13:06 for LoD

Killing the first Superunique council members in
Travincal will drop
Khalim's Flail
Once you've crafted
Khalim's Will, you can smash the Compelling Orb with it and gain access to
Durance of Hate Level 1 as the reward of
Khalim's Will: Quest
You don't have to kill the remaining council members to progress through the game. This will leave
The Blackened Temple unfinished which is optional anyway. -- This contradicts the description of
Travincal which claims
Khalim's Flail drops from the last
Council Member that dies

My proposed changes are:

Change the rewards of quest
The Blackened Temple to None.
Shorten the first paragraph of
Travincal 's Description to:

Travincal is home to the council, where after defeating the first Superunique
Council Member in the area you'll be able to loot
Khalim's Flail. This can then be used to craft
Recipe: Khalim's Will.

Thanks for the attention to detail here - I have updated the The Blackened Temple quest entry to have no reward (tooltips for it will update on Saturday when the cache refresh happens), and updated the Travincal description as per your suggestion.

I can confirm that it is not necessary to kill the council members or complete

The Blackened Temple quest to progress.
When I rush someone I kill all the council members alone and

The Blackened Temple quest will fail for the person I rush. However that person can still collect

Khalim's Flail, make

Khalim's Will, smash the compelling orb (which will complete

Khalim's Will: Quest) and progress towards

Mephisto.
