This also means in a BOTD/Death setup BOTD will not benefit from the 50%CB on Death, right?

indeed. CB\DS\OW\damage\attack rating\IAS calculated for each hand separately.
Whirlwind's first hitcheck happens at the 4th frame only for the mainhand. After that, it happens for both hands at every 4th frame.

Maxroll calculator is bugged/deprecated for Whirlwind and Strafe, but this site calculator works

attackspeed.php
(and then, you can use maxroll "damage per second" multiplied for a delta to match correct attacks per second
- just be aware of the "Next Hit Delay" if you are attack too fast... I think maxroll does not account that either

I did a few terrorized Andariel runs (5) before bed last night with my ebotd cb and new Death cs that rolled a paltry 304 ed lol.
It was fine. Not as fast as griefs but looked great. The damage variance on using those was wild though compared to griefs.
I was looking at a ias calculator as well. And it didn't give me the option to input ias from my gloves or necklace. Surely those impact my ww attacks correct??

Gents, thank you. This topic was really helpful to optimize the setup.

OK gents, in defense of the maxroll dmg calculation. Yes, the frames are not calculated right, that's for sure.
CB is calculated, but it's kinda hidden. You have to click on the drop down button after the dmg number.
I did some math with dual Death and botd/Death in Eth berseker axes.
Target was dclone to see the difference a little bit clearer.
Dual Death kills him in 11.02 seconds (with the wrong calculation for the frames)
BOTD/Death kills him in 14.42 seconds (with the wrong calculation for the frames)
In comparison dual Grief in phase blades kills him in 11.40 seconds (with the correct calculation for the frames)
So dual Death is faster on big targets compared to dual Grief.

Death is notorious boss killer because the crushing blow.
My timezone is CET/UTC+1.
OP
I have been trading around and got myself Death, Grief, and ebotd in berserker axes over the last few days. Apparently I need 63 more ias from my gear to max out attack speed on my ww with axes and Death / ebotd.
Which is a bummer. Getting 40 with Laying of Hands and Highlord's Wrath is easy. But the rest requires 2 15 ias gems

Oh that's true. I am using a good verdungo. are all melee characters insanely expensive for being just worse than caster characters?
I LOVE playing this ww barb (which is all that matters) but he clears the slowest of any character i have right now and has been the most expensive lol.

Any character can be as expensive as you wanted
For melee chars, you absolutely need a GOOD weapon and you often need a more specific set of supporting equipment, while most casters have more leeway to achieve decent abilities, so yes, they're often more expensive.Spectie wrote: 6 months agoare all melee characters insanely expensive for being just worse than caster characters?

one more question just so i understand the WW calc correctly. It says you need 63 ias for each weapon. Does that mean that the 60 ias on Breath of the Dying is basically irrelevant if you want to max attacks on a Death off hand? You still need to get 63 ias to get the Death at max hits separate from the Breath of the Dying correct? It's very confusing (or i just don't quite understand)
I'm currently using 15 ias in Helm, nosferatu Belt, Laying of Hands and highlords. So that gives me 65 IAS + 60 from my Breath of the Dying.

If you want max attack rate with both weapons and have no IAS on one of them... yes the IAS on the other weapon will be useless as you will need all ias (in the case 63) on non-weapons equipment anyway for the other weapon....
But if your non-weapon ias was not enough to max both weapons the IAS on the other weapon will still give you more attacks per seconds with that weapon (depending on the breakpoints)
In your case, if you already have 65 ias on non-weapons, would probably be better to switch the Breath of Dying for another weapon (maybe even another Death), or replace some IAS equipment

WW is not the fastest meele build out there but, at least for me, a very chill kind of gameplay. For normal farming and leveling dual Grief in phase blades would be the fastest setup (and maybe one the cheaper compared to dual Grief where the base alone costs more than a good rolled Grief). WW is also kinda safe to play with a high enough life pool and life leech. Combined with Berserk as a second skill you're also able to kill every enemy without sunder charms.Spectie wrote: 6 months agoI LOVE playing this ww barb (which is all that matters) but he clears the slowest of any character i have right now and has been the most expensive lol.
---- edit ---
And please do not forget the most powerfull skill of the barb, at least in P1: Find Item. This skill is so mighty in terms of finding good stuff to trade, it's hard to tell. That's also the main reason you want to avoid cold dmg on a barb. As Find Item "slows" your runs, the kill speed is not that much important in my humble opinion.

well i was using an Um in my helmet and a verdungo for more res and life. i swapped to the 15 ias and the nos coil just today to max out the ww attacks, but i didn't realize the BOTD ias was useless if i was also using Death LOL.fredkid wrote: 6 months agoIf you want max attack rate with both weapons and have no IAS on one of them... yes the IAS on the other weapon will be useless as you will need all ias (in the case 63) on non-weapons equipment anyway for the other weapon....

I may just keep them though. It feels really neat using a ebotd and a Death together. just the idea of it is neat
