My first Überbuild for the Ladder was Griswold Shield with 3x Perfect Diamond. Worked fine with me (Weapon was Black Flail)

It depends on what character you're playing and what you need. The great thing about that shield is that it's very versatile. It's basically already a Rhyme but missing Cannot Be Frozen and some magic find.
