Bug Report

Description

Device:
Redmi Note 10 5G / Dell Inc. Inspiron 7580
Browser:
Chrome 136.0.7103.60 / Chrome 135.0.7049.115 (Official Build) (64-bit)
OS:
MIUI Global 14.0.6 / Windows 10

Steps to reproduce:
When I open a link to a specific post (from an email, from the notification menu of the site itself, or when I click on the "last post" link of a forum thread), the page do not open on the correct post, but in a previous post (sometimes in the top of the page)

Ex:
post3921947.html#p3921947
post3921966.html#p3921966
both are anchor to the last post but are opening on previous posts

It seems to happen with almost every link to a post :-(

I think I tested on the middle of the revert 😛😛

Well it seems that it is working correctly now 😉
Thanks!

Maybe something with the loading time of the page... 🤔

I made a test now

Clicked on the "Biggest fail drops" link:
post3922004.html#p3922004
It opened on my own post from 13 hours ago instead of the last one...

But on a second try on the same link it opened on the correct post 🤔

Yeah I think this is related to the change I made yesterday tbh.

I've reverted that change - let me know guys if it's better now.

Is this new (like today new?) or has existed for you for a while?

Reason I ask is that I made some Cloudflare speed optimisations yesterday which could be causing this.

I think the problem started yesterday or the day before 🤔

It was easier to notice on "hot" threads of the forum, I clicked to see the new posts and opened an old post (that I already liked 😉😛)

Anchors are a browser feature. They might not work 100% if the page keeps generating content after initial page load. The browser only knows where the anchors are on inital page load, and that's when the anchor positioning happens, if a script causes additional content to be added (like the inline image loading in posts) the browser will not adjust the scroll position accordingly. Also, if the anchor is too close to the bottom of the page the browser won't scroll down further than the page itself extends. I'm not sure this is a bug with the site at all.

For the first link, I opened it in a very tiny window and the positioning was correct. For the second link though, it does seem to position itself on a different anchor altogether (tried with the same tiny window), but I can't really tell if that's really a browser bug.

I'm in CET (Central European Time), so that's UTC+1 normally and UTC+2 during DST.
My profile says Ladder, but I play both Ladder and Non-Ladder.
My profile says Softcore, but I play both Softcore and Hardcore.
My Holy Grail Tracker is for Offline Hardcore.

Huh yeah, now the second link works better, so something did change. The first link though was a poor example cause that whole thread is so short that it can fit entirely on one screen (unless you make the window tiny on purpose).
