TZ Worldstone Keep/Chamber - best approach for XP Gain

No data yet

2

Description

Hi

Considering:
TZ Worldstone Keep/Chamber
Char L90+
Char is mostly a mob killer build (clear mobs/uniques in a blink, but cannot kill
Baal
in seconds...😓)

What is the best approach for XP Gain?

A - Fast Tele-Walk to Throne room and kill
Baal

B - Kill most of Unique/Champions
C - Just kill most of the monsters
D - Other suggestion? 🤔

You just want XP ?
Classic :
Baal
waves !
And uniques if TZ.

Killing
Baal
is a waste of time if you don't do it for MF, and/or relatively fast.

Generally speaking, killing trash mobs don't give a lot of XP, you kill lot of mobs for loot (cows...).

So maybe something like:

Walk to "
Baal
waves" killing all uniques in the way.
🤔🤔

That's what I would do, but I'm not sure it's the best 🤔

I'm pretty sure killing
Baal
, especially if you can't do it fast, is a waste of time (maybe not from lvl 98 though...?).

But I'm not sure about killing all uniques VS killing uniques on the way VS going straight to the waves.
I think it's all relative to how fast you can TP/kill...

Before we had TZs, the strategies could differ depending on the party size and levels of the players as well. There's also a specific strategy in full games to split the party when killing
Baal
to optimize the XP for the highest level players in the game.

In TZ games, it's practically never worth it to kill
Baal
if you're trying to optimize XP/hour. The wait time after the last wave until he goes in the
Worldstone Chamber
is too long, then you have to go to the middle of the chamber, and then he generally takes longer to kill than the minion waves. If you can't take him down very fast, then you may have to deal with him teleporting or spawning his clone.

You want to do what's the most consistent and repeatable in the least amount of time. That would be teleporting straight to the throne room ASAP to get to the minion waves. If you walk there from the stairs and kill what's the in way, you don't know what mobs will be in the way every time, their density and placement isn't going to be consistent, and picking off a straggler unique or champion might slow you down immensely. That's already an issue when monsters hide behind the banners and columns beside the throne. It would be best to not exacerbate the problem elsewhere on that map.

One more thing:
Do
Baal
Wave's unique give the similar XP of a unique of the same type?
(I imagine that yes, as you are recommending to focus on killing them, but I want to confirm, as their drop table is equal to a Champion of the same time - forums/do-baal-s-waves-have-crap-drops- ... 33480.html )

As far as I know,
Baal
himself gives more XP than any of his minion waves, so even if it's a little slower, it might still be worth it. It just depends on how much slower it is.

Usually looking for Runes, Essences, PGems, Tokens, Keys, etc.
Always willing to discuss and negotiate :)

Depends hugely on the build yeah.
If, for example i were to change my FoH paladin for bosskilling instead of overall MF, he could easily take down
Baal
very fast, and even as he is now, with his merc using g.face and Duress,
Baal
still goes down much much faster than the waves. Absolutely worth it if there's no other limits(like if someone else is doing the baalruns and you don't want to miss the next one).

But a char focused on say, taking down packs, like a
War Cry
barb? That would be painfully slow and totally not worth it.
7
I think this strategy strongly depends on your character level. If you have more than 5 levels of difference to the monsters, it is generally better to skip mobs (lvl 85) and elite groups (lvl 87-88) and go directly to the super uniques that
Baal
will spawn (lvl 88-96).
If you are at a point where you can simply trample the mobs, you can spare 1 second if you find a champion pack/unique monster and kill them, but otherwise just ignore and go directly to the
Throne of Destruction
, maybe skipping a few spawns in there as well if you have problems with them (Bartuc, Ventar and Lister are always worthy killing as they are lvl 95+).

When non-terrorized
Bartuc the Bloody
,
Ventar the Unholy
and
Lister the Tormentor
are all L88 (like other supers at the area)
(
Colenzo the Annihilator
and
Achmel the Cursed
too)

The regular
Minion of Destruction
on the other hand are L92 😮
(didn't know that 🤔🤓🧮)

I was under the impression Bartuc, Ventar and Lister had higher levels, only Colenzo and Achmel were 88. Last time I checked some of the wikis still had them listed as that, but you are probably right. They may all have been nerfed in level but their mobs seem to have kept the original levels (Ventar's Venom Lords and Brtuc's Council Members also have increased monster level), but again I did not check the game files.

FYI -
Baal
's XP caps at /players3 regardless so you cannot push him higher.

So if you do want to power farm him for XP in-addition to the waves, make sure it is only /players3. Don't make it unnecessarily harder on yourself!

To get to
Baal
you have to spend considerable more time getting there even with
Teleport
.
Mephisto
is just a few swarms of Stygian Dolls away and then you're there. As for the rest I often don't pick them up just to save space in my stash.

The upside there is that if you have good character, clearing everything while walking to
Baal
tend to result in a LOT of drops if the game is full.

JUST a few swarms of dolls?

Those dolls are absolute murder to get past. They're a magnitude worse than souls in WSK.

No matter what char i go with, the dolls always keep being the by far the most dangerous enemies.

They just appear and before you have any chance to do anything, they run past your pets or merc or whatever and BOOOM into you...

I guess it depends on your build and experience with those cute little rascals, especially the pastel colored ones. They aren't really much of a bother for me which means I can complete a good three to five Stygian Doll hunts in about the time it takes to do just one WSK. :D
7
Same, I don't have issues with those little dolls with any of my builds (melee or caster). They are just kind of meh. My GF barb might struggle, but I'll never know since he farms travical exclusively ;)

I'm willing to accept other forms of currency. Like Tokens, Keys,
Perfect Gems
, and certain minor runes in lieu of my asking price. I'm also willing to accept rune combinations that add up to my asking price.

Dolls are dangerous because your Merc will one shot them.
What about urdars and mummies with there powerfull poison ?
A wrong tp can result in a Death.

In addition, the jail was nerfed in a past LoD patch so it became so super long to reach lvl 3.

Merc Stygian kills aren't much of a problem either because I will just step back a bit and while my merc distracts them take them out from a small distance. Urdars and mummies are even less of an issue than Stygian dolls.
