Description

I'm sure someone here will be able to confirm but I was doing an ubers like I have done many times. Nothing too crazy, just teleporting around to find
Izual
. When I did, I started doing my thing and attacking him. Unlike other times, my HP was dropping FAST! I'm at 4600hp buffed and it seemed each split second my life went from full to 1500 then back (with life leach) up and back down. Started spamming my full rejuvs and still died. What happened???

Well, it seems if you aren't standing still (or don't have walking toggled?) and you are moving, you get hit more often (or harder?). Unfortunately for me, I play on the PlayStation and my controller lately has gotten grumpy at me and the left stick for movement, is stuck downwards. Which means, my characters often move down on its own. I can only assume this is what happed, I engaged
Izual
and started smiting letting go of the move stick. Then my char started moving down and took crazy damage.

Was it a coinicidence or do I need a new controller to do Ubers /sadpanda?

If you are running, you have 0 defense, and your block chance is reduced to 1/3. A high level enemy such as
Über Izual
would have 95% chance to hit you with 0 defense, and assuming you had max block normally, you'd only have 25% effective block chance.

I'm in CET (Central European Time), so that's UTC+1 normally and UTC+2 during DST.
My profile says Ladder, but I play both Ladder and Non-Ladder.
My profile says Softcore, but I play both Softcore and Hardcore.
My Holy Grail Tracker is for Offline Hardcore.

As a matter of fact melee attacks are guaranteed to hit you while running (besides 1/3 block chance or
Evade
, or if you run out of melee range fast enough), they bypass the chance to hit formula altogether.

If it merely set your defense to 0 then a level 90 character running around in Normal
Blood Moor
would struggle to get hit by level 1
Fallen
because of the level difference, but quick testing indicates that's not the case and they'll always hit. 😛

Ranged attacks on the other hand aren't guaranteed to hit you even while running (block is still reduced to 1/3 though), they still follow the CtH formula.

Side note : no chance that you were on swap (e.g. CtA) instead of your normal setup, or missed a prebuff ? Last time I had such thing happening it was my case.

It's always possible, I thought I saw my pb but not 100% sure.

Next time, stop running and walk while you're in melee.

Walking won't set your defense to 0 and reducing your block even if you move.
That's why ppl doing BvB are walking and not running (not sure there is still ppl doing BvB lol).

My timezone is CET/UTC+1.

Most likely this was the case.
It happened to me many times. I had Spirit on
Crystal Sword
and Call To Arms in
Phase Blade
and also
Monarch
Spirit on main and swap. The swords look the same and I didn't know that I didn't switch them.
After I saw a post on the forum I made Call To Arms on a
Military Pick
. to better see when I'm on main weapon and when I'm on swap.

I done that mistake twice...
both with a
Werewolf
druid (so... no visual clue that I was with the wrong equipment...)

one time I was with the wrong weapon (at least both had high crushing blow... but the wrong one had way less damage/speed...)

another time forgot to change Treachery for Fortitude after the
Fade
pre-buff...

For a while: not accepting
Ral
or
Hel
; and considering
Perfect Skull
as a regular
Perfect Gems
on my trades.

That happened to me once with a smiter, but against
Diablo Clone
.

I was having trouble staying alive, even after having killed Dclone many many times in the past.

Exactly what you described. Was taking massive damage, and was having trouble healing, even with
Life Tap
on.

The issue: I had forgoten to cast
Holy Shield
. Makes massive diference.

I had a somewhat similar experience with
Diablo Clone
, too... After I had killed hundreds of them, I got a little careless and did not even bother to use my CTA 😉

One time I encountered him in the
Frigid Highlands
together with one or two elite mob groups who had the Might aura and casted
Amplify Damage
. I thought I kill the DClone first and look for the mob later. Was not a good idea. Before I realized that the DClone also had the Might aura I got cursed and then smashed like a cooked potato by all of them 😁
