Description
Planned features:
PC + PS4 crossplay will be implemented.
x7 shared stashes 16x13;
Balance changes, correction of characteristics of some unpopular items;
Reworking the Mosaic to correct an imbalance.
What will be at the start:
No RMT trading, no bots. Unlike the alpha version, the current version of D2R is supported.
Of course, trading on d2io, Traderie or d2jsp will not be supported, since the server will not be integrated with the official BattleNet.
In the future, after final polishing, it is planned to publish the server in open access, so that everyone can launch their own copy and play with friends via TCP/IP, add any mods to their taste.
The beta-test will be launched on the Russian server, more details will be published in this topic closer to the release.

This is very cool, thanks for posting. I clicked your link to the post that talked about the Alpha 5 months ago and I skimmed that a little bit. The idea of the popular mods like Project Diablo 2 and Median being able to move over to D2R is awesome. I'm at work so I don't want to click too far into unknown territory on the web, but can you fill me in on whether or not there is any fear of Blizzard being able to shut this effort down?
OP
I would like to point out right away that I am not a member of the development team for this server, so some of what I said in this thread will be my thoughts, and some will be translated from Russian into English directly from the developers.Daeblana wrote: 23 hours ago I'm at work so I don't want to click too far into unknown territory on the web, but can you fill me in on whether or not there is any fear of Blizzard being able to shut this effort down?
I have a few thoughts on this matter:
1) The development team is anonymous, both programmers do not publish their personal data and use pseudonyms. Therefore, even if Blizzard wanted to sue this team, like, for example, Nintendo fights against emulator creators, they would not succeed.
2) Blizzard can't close RMT sites and block bot users, and they certainly don't have the ability to close a server under Russian jurisdiction after they left our region. Moreover, it seems to me that Blizzard has completely turned a blind eye to many in-game problems, so it is unlikely that they will pay attention to a server with a couple of thousand players.
Even if they somehow manage to close the private server, it won't be difficult to transfer the backup with all the saves to the new server and notify all the players about it.
3) In the previous topic I wrote that this server is a layer between the game and PvPGN (which use for various private servers for LoD, such as PD2). PvPGN is freely distributed via GitHub and is not blocked at all. That is, any user installs the server launcher at their own risk, the server itself does not interfere with the internal Blizzard infrastructure in any way, but only accepts requests from the game and gives responses. I'm not a lawyer, maybe there are some ways to sue the developers and close the server, but based on the two previous points, Blizzard won't succeed.
4) This project is created primarily by fans of the game, it will be completely free and the server capacity is paid for by donations, the sale of things from the server administration will not be implemented, only honest grind and barter exchange, like on d2io. In addition, bots and cheaters will be blocked, so this project will not have a large amount of real money, like on the official Blizzard servers, and therefore there will not be such attention from greedy corporations who may think that modders are profiting from their intellectual property.

This is not a private server, but Bonesy somehow managed to find a build of the game where the TCP/IP mode was not cut. At the moment, the version of the game with patch 2.4 is supported. I have not played this mod yet, but some of you can try to run it with friends through a virtual local network, for example, Hamachi.

Thanks a ton for the info!
Thanks for the effort. But the very first thing is to fix Mosaic? Lost me.

Agreed. Someone on here once said, the problem with Mosaic is, that it is either op or fucking useless. there is no inbetween. you can change the runes required to Jah Jah Jah and it is still overpowered, you can fuck around with the + to elemental damage and it is still overpowered, but if you change the chance to consume no charges value thats it, useless.
I wish Enigma was fixed as well...
For BN community, which consists of botters and RM traders, which prefers skipping the content, it is.
But plenty of mods limit Teleport, most often by introducing cooldown.

Super cool learning about this project! One of my major grievances with D2R has always been the lack of TCP/IP, with the official reason for the lack of its implementation being hard to believe. Mods like PD2 potentially becoming playable on a D2R base in the future sounds great as well.d2jsp wrote: 2 days agoIn the future, after final polishing, it is planned to publish the server in open access, so that everyone can launch their own copy and play with friends via TCP/IP, add any mods to their taste.
I'm curious as to why you feel that way. I enjoy Diablo II for many reasons (brilliant itemisation, combat feel, dark ambience, among others), with Teleport being on my list of negatives. I enjoy brawling with foes and navigating the terrain; I hate skipping 90% of the landscape and combat to get to a high-value target — it's why I don't blink around unless Terror-Zone Andariel or Mephisto are up. Even when enemies are trivial, they still present an engaging physical obstacle, especially if one is undergeared, distracted, playing a less-potent build, or otherwise faced with a well-rolled unique pack.
Personally, I've always felt Teleport shouldn't allow you to pass through walls: have its main use be dodging incoming enemies or warping right past them.

There's always an option to not play with it for those who don't like it. But for us who likes it will suffer from this idea if it fixed(!).
If you don't like it, don't use it. That is simple. But wishing something you don't like to be fixed while not considering others who maybe like it is selfish. I don't understand this mind set, sorry.

Yeah, that's how I go about it. I play online as a single-player game with an engaging trade economy, and it's about two decades too late to make any changes to Teleport, anyway; I'm not fussed about what others do. It helps that I mainly play a Shape Shifting Druid, but I keep my Enigma's Teleport usage almost exclusively for the aforementioned Terror Zones. The other bonuses on my armour piece are rad all on their own!
Even though I'm interested in discussing Teleport, I feel like I'm reviving an ancient community discussion (and contributing to derailing this thread!), so I'll stop with this post.

The very definition of Teleport is "transport by dematerializing at one point and assembling at another." If Teleport could be blocked by objects such as walls then it would no longer be teleporting. What you're describing is something more akin to a Barbarians " Leap" which can't be done through walls but it can help you Dodge by leaping.Runasutaru wrote: 2 hours agoYeah, that's how I go about it.
