Why do Perfect Skull are more valuable them generic Perfect Gems on trades?

Description

When people use gems on trades they usually evaluate
Perfect Amethyst
,
Perfect Ruby
and
Perfect Skull
higher than the other gems.

I know that
Perfect Amethyst
and
Perfect Ruby
are more valuable because the demand for craft Caster and Blood itens and the "add socket to weapon/shield" formulas.

But I don't understand why
Perfect Skull
is more valuable too...

Is it because the "re-roll rare" formula?

I thought that this formula did not worth...

(I think that it would be "cheaper" to Gamble a rare - and it will always be of your level...)

Can be used to make Runewords:

People (including me) use perfect skulls to re-roll rare diadems. Someone smarter than me can explain the 'why' but essentially diadems have some special property that their ilvl doesn't decrease enough to go down below the threshold to roll with +2 skills, when re-rolling them.

All trades can be accomplished via PC or xbox. All reasonable offers will be considered and probably accepted.

Now make sense...

Circlets have "level bonus" on the affixes.

Didn't realize that the "level bonus" from
Diadem
(18) is enought to enable the higher affixes with that formula.

OP
But, if my calculations are right...

You can't use any
Diadem
to get +2 to skill with the formula 🤔

You will need a
Diadem
with "base item level" = 180 - "your level"
(180 * .4 + 18 = 90)

And
Diadem
may drop with +2 to skill since "base item level" 72 (90 - 18)

So if you are at level 90, you should use a
Diadem
that dropped from a level 90+ monster (some bosses or
Terror
zone only....)

I'm pretty sure you can re-roll any diadems. A
Diadem
with ilvl 1 will still have affix level of 99. It has such a high qlvl that re-rolling doesn't decrease the types of affixes it can roll with. Diadems are unique in this case.

Would it be worth spending time and resources on re-rolling this
Tiara
? It's been dropped by a non-TZ
Lord De Seis
. Asking as I've never done cubing of rare items even in LoD for obvious reasons.

You are forgetting the qLvl (quality level). Each item has a quality level that is predetermined (based on the item type) and it doesn't matter where it dropped or what you do with the item. If an item has a qLvl higher than its iLvl then the possible affixes are determined based on its qLvl instead of the iLvl. And since
Diadem
has a qLvl 85 and a magic level bonus of +18, all Diadems can have any affix regardless of its iLvl. Even if a
Diadem
's iLvl is 1, all affixes are still possible due to the high qLvl on it and the magic level bonus (the affix level will be 85+18 = 103).

I'm in CET (Central European Time), so that's UTC+1 normally and UTC+2 during DST.
My profile says Ladder, but I play both Ladder and Non-Ladder.

Not really.
Tiara
have qLvl 70 and magic level bonus +13, so by re-rolling it it will fall down to affix level 83 (70+13), so not all affixes are possible.

Thank you for explaining it better than I could! I tried, but it came out confusing and uninformed...lol

Seems decent as-is, tbh.

All trades are Switch only :)
