Description
Pindleskin is one of the most popular targets to farm because of his ease of access and treasure class of 87, which allows him to drop almost any item (he can't drop items that have a qlvl greater than 86).
The quickest way to reach him repeatedly is to use the red portal to Nihlathak's Temple that is next to Anya.
In legacy D2 this portal used to close if Betrayal of Harrogath has been completed in addition to the Halls of Pain waypoint being activated.

This guy dropped me my first ever Death's Web while I was doing MF runs with my Javazon.
He's my buddy now.

After testing, It is now confirmed that the portal to Nihlathak's Temple does NOT close if you get the waypoint and kill Nihlathak. The portal now remains open all the time.
Pindleskin is a Super Unique which means he always drops 2 items of Magic quality with chances for upgrades to Rare, Set, Unique, etc (unless he drop a rune/gem).
This chance for upgrade is directly affected by you Magic Finding %.
Since the number of drops are fixed for Super Uniques it is usually more beneficial to farm him on lower player counts (commonly P1). Typically you'll want to increase your MF as much as you can and make your 'Pindle Runs' as fast as possible. Only increase the player count if you can clear him and his minions equally fast. While increasing the player count won't affect Pindleskin drop rates it will increase the XP gained per run and the drop chances for his minions.

In D2R, Blizzard removed the old "Realm Down" feature of D2LOD and replaced it with a game join timer. Previously, you had to wait out a 30-minute timeout if you quit and joined too many online games too quickly within a set span of time, which added a layer of tediousness to Pindle farming: you had to find a way to meaningfully extend your game sessions to avoid this timeout; the most popular method was adding Eldritch and Shenk to your runs. In D2R, you don't need to do that. The new game join timer starts at the minimum of 10 seconds (a single Pindle kill always takes longer) when the servers aren't experiencing a heavy load and goes up the more people are currently online (90 seconds max).
