Shopping for white staves/wands with lvl 18 (tier 4) skills

Any vendor sells items with ilvl = clvl + 5. At ilvl >=25 all vendor items will be magical. This means that clvl 19 is the latest point any character can still buy White items.

Drognan is limited to ilvl 20 items in normal, which means he cannot sell items with + to tier 4 skills (like

Enchant).

Ormus is limited to ilvl 28 items, which if White, could spawn tier 4 skills.

If I understood it correctly, this article on maxroll states that items with 19 <= iLVL <= 24 have a 20% chance to spawn with tier 4 skills, if they roll to spawn skills.

Does this mean that I could get lucky and see a non-magic

Wand or staff with tier 4 skills when shopping at

Ormus in normal with a level 19 character?

Does the same hold for act 4+5 vendors? What about nm + hell?

Yes And no. You can actually get them from

Drognan as well.

Bone Spear is a tier 4 staff mod, I believe you can start getting Bone Wands with +3 to

Bone Spear at lvl 17 from

Drognan. Other staff mods and items not sure on, just know for 100% you can get

Bone Spear staff mods at 17. But I believe

Drognan is the last one that sells "White" bases in normal. Just him and

Akara. And there is no lvl

Cap on them, I can shop on my lvl 90 and still find White bases.

It is because there's a level

Cap on them that you can shop those items, even at clvl 90.

Generally people recommend level 17 not because it has some special chance to get better White items, but because the ones with the skills there after (level 18 ones) are red in the UI since they can't equip them yet. That makes it easier to quickly check.

all acts in normal mode have shops that sells White items before character level 20. wands sold by

Akara can have have max 1 socket. so those can't be used for the runeword.

Bone Wand can have 2 sockets.

So anyone go to

Ormus at lvl 19 and confirm this? Would love to shop a

Bone Spear/

Attract/decrep

Wand rather than try and find one in the wild!

I bought many +3

Bone Spear

Wand from

Drognan, normal.

Clay Golem, iron, never get decrep, but still good for White. It takes some time (about 2h) but it's possible. My last +3

Bone Spear, +2 decrep was unfortunately from traderie.

So i did about 90 mins of shopping at

Ormus, never once saw decrep or

Attract… not even on the magic ones.

I guess I’ll just have to wait for one to drop… gross

Same as me who never founded +3 BO spears in 20+ hours of

Anya shopping so far. RNG is just ridiculous sometimes... And even those +3

Bone Spear wands are sooo rare it's painful but they exist (

Drognan I'm looking at you).


Something I heard is if you don't have enough str and/or dex then some items that req. that won't spawn in shops for you even tho you 'unlocked' them being appropriate level.

Now since OP is asking about wands can't confirm or deny that, but I definitely seen +3 BS wands in

Drognan's assortment and even bought a few of those with 2os, ideal thing for White for the Bone Necro actually.
