Like for other demons, you might be searching for someone with high base resists, lightning + cold immunity (one innate and one enchanted) and Stone skin and cursed. That'd probably be a way longer search vs just binding the first unique uber pit lord you find with cursed

If you don't have the keys, or you're really obsessive about binding from p8, then yea maybe they aren't for you. But otherwise i don't feel it's very convoluted, at least not anymore than it is binding any other demon

Unless you're solely running ancients and ubers, I'd argue that for a "general purpose demon", Stone skin is far more beneficial than the rainbow immunity (especially against most heralds). The "needed rolls" hence end up effectively the same as for say a lancer. Just with a significant Key invest every time and with that a significant time invest to still get the organs if you don't want to completely waste your keys, even for every attempt where you don't even get that mob type in the zone. With lancers, you can just check, quit, check, quit and repeat in "seconds at a time" until you get them in the zone and take a closer look for the right unique.

And both of those (and most others) obv. remain infinitely harder to get than something like Heph whom you know exactly where to find and who will be in every game. And who always comes with an aura so you immediately spot whether or not you get the right one, rather than having to waste more time on extra bind-attempts to roll one and pray.

Given, if you really want to go for a rainbow lord, go for it. Convoluted or not, "the right demon" is always worth it in the end and it simply remains a matter of preference.
Though personally I'm biased against them anyways, not just due to them being so annoying to find (beyond just the trash version) but also since anything that tele-locks is just unacceptable and disqualified by default imo. ^^

I was kinda assuming for ancients since that was what a lot of the talk has been around w these rainbow demons, that's totally fair abt heralds. I will say i haven't had my uber pit lord come close to dying from any tier 5 Herald yet (admittedly in just a few days of playing with this build)

For me the versatility of being able to bring my demon farming, or to ancients, or ubers, all without any build adjustment is a really big deal. And the fact it's a 5 min search at most to replace him, god forbid (since i just have 1 point in Bind Demon, no fancy affixes) which has only ever happened bc of an accidental Consume

Also fair about tele-lock. For me hephasto's constant moaning and groaning is where i draw the line. He even does it in town. Perverse
