Gore riders base defense?

I was trying to find the base defense of the

War Boots before the enhanced defense. multiple websites show the base defense of

War Boots as 43-53. If i take a maximum of 53 and multiply it by my 194%ed (53*2.94) i get 155.82. but the gores in question have 158 defense. Even rounding up they are still 2 defense over their possible maximum.
The wiki also shows "140-162 (varies)(Base Defense: 43-53)". If i calculate perfect gores base 53 and 200%ed they should be 159 defense not the stated max of 162.
What am i missing here?

Thanks for finding that. It's good to know that unique items do not have variable base values and always roll maximum, given that they come with +ed.
