Elemental damage charms - what builds do use them as BIS?

No data yet

Description

Hi

From what I know, and saw on guides/forums just a few builds consider elemental damage charm as BIS ("best in slot) equipment:

- Fire damage charms: builds that use
Immolation Arrow
or
Exploding Arrow
(including weapons with "fires explosive bolts/arrows"), as the fire damage is added to the explosion damage.

- Cold damage charm: builds that use
Freezing Arrow
, as the cold damage is added to the explosion.

- Poison Damage: some PvP build, because poison damage bypass
Energy Shield
.

There are other build that use elemental damage as BIS?

Or the rest go for the typical
skill tab / (ar + max) / resist / mana
+
mf / life / max / fhr / frw
as BIS
?

There is no right or wrong answer.

Until Blizzless start to increase the inventory to allow a charm pocket or designated charm space (S/O to Project Diablo) it really depends what your focus is.

As for cold - each effect of cold adds +1 sec on top of your
Ice Arrow
syn.

snow charm of frost adds 2 secs.

10 of those add 20 secs

mob CR and Mode will counter the effects of this length of time. (Hell = 1/4 only)

A fletcher's GC of Winter adds substancial FA damage on top of adding additional cold effect length when stacked.

Offer if price is not stated

The thing is, you're directly competing against +skill in those builds which tends to be exactly what they've been designed around using. As a result, elemental dmg charms - even in those cases where they may via some clunky explosion-dmg-mechanic buff the actual skill - tend to still fall behind.

Just looking at maxroll for the higher lvl numbers real quick, they're not even BiS for
Freezing Arrow
or
Immolation Arrow
. Exploding is the only one where they would pull ahead, the others still gain more from +skill. That's solely considering the instant dmg mind you, none of the other benefits of adding another skill point.

More often than not, they are/were kind of a gimmick where certain (phys) builds would've potentially liked to use them to add some elemental dmg as a secondary since you can realistically push your ele output to anywhere from around 800 to around 2k avg per hit with them, depending on element. Or 18k with poison though that'd naturally take 12 seconds to go through.
Plus poison for pvp, naturally.
