Description

With the release of RotW we had the dataminers do some great work revealing a lot of stuff we didn't know of because there were no patch notes. This included cube recipes for magic items (see here) that are disabled at the moment.

It is quite obvious that these recipes, should they be introduced to the game at some point, are bonkers for upgrading magic charms.

I was wondering if you would also use them to create some nice magic rings. Should be great if you could add -2 magic res to a Fortuitous Ring of Fortune as a hammerdin for example. A 15@/25mf ring could also be a nice "base" I guess since both rolls exceed the value you can expect from a rare ring.

So my question is: What magic rings would you create for which build?

PS: A JMoD with -4 light res seems insane...

ohh wow, having a inv of small charms with 3/20/20 all with physical res- would make a ton of melee builds more viable
just as an example...
theese are cool
but does making one reroll the original charm propertys or add to it?
I hope to see them soon, maybe shake up the fucking META builds witch are set in Stone since 1.12d

feel free to offer Runes,Pgems,Pames,Keys,Statues or your first born. Im sure we can strike a deal ^^

Don't see much use in rings tbh.. I believe amulets were also on the list? There I would upgrade my +3 fire skills on the fire sorc
And charms are a Dream of course, finally reach almighty status with fire sorc :D

Unique and rare rings are too good. Even with this mod, magic rings have no chance to compete.

For the huge majority of builds you are right for sure. But the 40mf ring is an obvious example that this is not always the case. And these are the niche situations I'm interested in. Maybe it's the only one, though...

Hardly imo.
The problem with melee/most phys builds isn't the damage they put out. Especially since
Protector's Stone
and
Renewed Bone Break
.
The problem is that they are generally stuck dealing said damage to a single target at a time and/or suffer from exceptionally slow travel speeds compared to most casters.
No amount of -res would fix that, it'd merely make them even stronger against single targets (unnecessary) while still leaving them just plain bad overall by comparison, thanks to not addressing the actual issues.

I still think these are just leftover datamines from before "let's just centralize -res on sunder and ancient jewel". And I sincerely hope they'll stay just that and don't actually get added. The power creep would be pretty intense if you just gave everyone another -30 res from charms alone.

Though rings would probably be the least affected as -2 isn't all that much compared to what you lose moving to a magic ring for most builds.

In either case, IF these ever do get added, for the love of cheesus, please don't make it a ladder exclusive...it'd just instantly invalidate every single non-ladder charm and magic piece of gear, forcing a full re-grind of basically everything you already have on ladder just to carry it back down..f that.

I could see a situation where a 10fcr/15allres ring with -2 res could just barely win out as the higher res might open up another gear option that the competing
Opalvein
can't (assuming you want to max out your res). But that'd be some highly specific build and certainly not applicable across the board.

Part of the "problem" would be that charms alone (which everyone would get as it costs you nothing in return) would add another -30 res. That's quite a lot. And the more -res you have, the less impactful more -res becomes as compared to another skill point or +dmg or the like. So the charms being a thing would inherently lower the value of rings being able to do the same.

Afaik they add the property. Otherwise this would seem way too expensive just to get a one in a million lucky shot.

I hope it is rerolling, not adding.
Add will be too easy .
While small and grand charms are good as they are, large need to have something better to be useful. Like 1-4% for example.
Of other gear I don't see any need to do this.
Buying GG gloves or claw weapon takes many-many runs. Rerolling gloves to get +3 martial arts +20 IAS will take forever.
