A slightly different take on Gold Finding Barbarian

Hi!

After some experimenting and trying out different versions of this build i just felt like i need to share where i ended up with. I am NOT a min/maxer and for me part of the enjoyment of playing diablo is to make everything happen without multitasking.

Common knowledge is that we need to use either Whirlwind, Berserk or Frenzy to do the killing in Travincal. Some say that only way to go is let merchanary kill to get extra Gold find % added from his gear. Some try to max Gold find % to so absurd numbers that they give up on all survivability and even seen some end up using full rejunevation potions in order to survive hell council. Some state that Enigma is needed to be fast enough to make Gold barbarian even worth building.. bla bla bla

Lets forget everything above except for Berserk.. we will be using that

So

NO need for merchanary
NO need for Enigma (or other super expensive runewords)
NO need for mob management (stunning, shouting, jumping etc.)

Still

~2200 extra Gold find % (while horking)
Hardcore viable chill gameplay
500k + Gold per run (average counted to be around 525 000 Gold)
< 1min runs (if you just Concentrate on Gold not drops)

How?

Off-hand : Stormshield (Yes we give up on using that six Lem'ed sword)
Gloves : Laying of Hands (Yes no Chance Guards)

We lose 650% Gold find (only while killing) but gain a ton and i really mean a TON of survivability and Laying of Hands gives us that oh so sweet 350% dmg to demons.

Rest of the gear is pretty much identical to all other major guides (Grief + Wealth + Immortal King's Will + Dwarf Star + Goldwrap etc..)


This is nothing new and groundbreaking but for sure UNDERRATED way of farming Gold.

If someone wants to know more i can do a proper build guide with my current gear and skillset..

Also let me know if some of you have actually done it this way and ended up changing to something else. I've tried everything from Last Wish to let merchanary do the killing and eventually ended up coming back to this.

This is the way. I decked my merc out too tho with Chains of Honor, andariels and a Hustle.

Unfortunately mercs are pretty much useless unless you can pimp them with high end gear. Which casual players absolutely do not unless they buy stuff outside the game with real money :'d

Agree, I always used Stormshield and Laying of Hands. The slight reduction in Gold you get is offset by how quick and easy each run is.

The difference is that I use an upped Death Guard Belt for Cannot Be Frozen, and I use a Crown of Thieves and Infernostride for extra Gold.

It used to be terrible farming the Council. Then, as an afterthought, I equipped a Hustle, and everything clicked into place. I can now get 500k per run, quickly and without having to Shout the mobs away.

Death's Guard

I do something similar to this except that I dual wield two-handers: an ethereal Death Colossus Sword and The Grandfather. I will gladly lose the shield and even deal less damage if it means I get to whack them with two gigantic flagpoles.

I don't find I have issues with survivability, though, unless I get Amplify Damage and am not paying attention.
