Unless you cheat (bot and RMT), you have no chance chasing the ladder race. Chill out and play at your own pace.

I am not racing in Ladder, just trying to bring back some Ladder only items

You cant fight the leaderboards unless you bot and anyone claiming otherwise is a cheater very likely.

Better focus on university then. Unlike exams, ladder comes and goes and your ranking has no impact on your future.

I went cold turkey on d2 during university (~20years ago), finished well and can now enjoy the game while having a roof above my head. One of the better choices I made in life.

I also have a lvl 50+ sorc on HCL right now and am happy to help you out. I'm poor a.f. right now, my highest rune is a

Sol and I'm still mostly rocking self found magic/rare items. But I'm sure I can help you out with getting some ladder-only stuff before the ladder ends as well.

Thanks all for the courage to face my Academia fears. I plan to finish my Bachelors by late 2027/early 2028/with maybe a change of school in 2026. Also considering asking for PLAR, (Prior Learning & Recognition) for a term advancement.

Will be doing Art next year (Mark & Image) so take time off for gaming other then D2R...

...or you are a dedicated streamer/YTuber who does 15-20h of pure farming each day and every day for the rest of eternity. Some people do get very obsessed with chasing the Ladder leaderboard let me tell ya. But yeah, more and more bots are showing up that's true or cheating (as for example is using external sites to get to important if not GG items ASAP via real cash or paying/getting someone to play on your account 24/7). I played my first Ladder here on D2R and tried to chase another one for a bit, I think they were S2 (maybe S1?) and S3 or something like that (but firstly EU always gets f*cked with the timing and secondly I absolutely hate farming -- after I do "runs" of any sort for a few days in row game becomes so boring that I need to step away from it for months just for the love and nostalgia to kick back in). So I quickly realized that sort of gaming is not for me and gave up.

@OP If University is what you need and want then forget about everything else and dive deep in. After you reach the accomplishments you seek, there will be time for gaming. However if you are not that serious about it, playing D2R from time to time on the side can either help you with the mental hurdles/gymnastics or just offer a no-regret later in life about "not playing/having fun enough when you were younger". However, I don't think D2R is going anywhere and even if it is (for example if we stop having Ladder as a thing) you can always "simulate" it by just playing at your own terms, ofc assuming you can still run the game (which knowing Blizzard anything is possible)!


TL;DR You do you, whatever you think it's best for you (or would make YOU happy/fulfilled) and don't put much emphasis on the "expectations" or "chances".
