UPDATE: still active as of May 2024, don't be afraid to ask for help. Just note that I play less frequently so trades may take slightly longer. Also prefer to trade with D2io members over Traderie where possible, I find D2io to be significantly more pleasant and full of lovely people. Happy hunting all!
Best and smoothest process in my experience:
1) Buyer and seller negotiate and agree price in the relevant trade thread (for transparency)
2) Buyer contacts me with link to trade and lets Seller know
3) I pay up front for the item (if I can afford it); this is basically to ensure no one is at any risk of losing out
4) Buyer then buys the item from me for same price
5) Seller marks as sold to Buyer and exchanges trust
6) Everyone does a happy dance
