Note that this will remove the ethereal property of the weapon.
It is possible to roll a socketed staff with Teleport charges with this recipe. On some characters I keep such staff on offhand to Teleport. The sockets can be used for some survivability jewels.
This recipe can be used with a magic Caduceus to get a Rose branded Caduceus with +3 Combat Skills, +3 Blessed Hammer and +3 Concentration.
