MySQL error message for duplicate user name

I tried to register with the name Jashugan and was prompted an error message for a duplicate username which looked like a default MySQL error message.
I thought the registration didn‘t succeed but when I attempted to go back, change the name and submit again, I was told that the email address is already in use.
Which brings me to another issue: no confirmation is needed to be able to create an account.
