I have seen a lot of negativity around the new expansion, some of it wandering into the insulting and demeaning. I know RotW is not perfect, and the paywall being the biggest gripe. However I want to hear what YOU LIKE with the updates, please save the sourness for a different thread.
Personally I like the revitalizing of magic finding. I never did a full grail because keeping track of it felt was too tedious. And there was always the chance to fake it. I'm still not sure if trading for an unid item will log it into your Compendium. Does someone know this?
EDIT: So I was broswing a cow game and I found an unid set Tower Shield, the shield was already on the Ground before I joined the game. Even though its unid, I'm unable to add it to my Compendium. My guess is you need to be in the game or within range exp gaining range of the monster that drops it for the item to be eligible for the Compendium.
I also like the material stacking, it soothes my neuroticism.
I have yet to try Warlock, but I will soon now that I have space from mule deletion!
But what do you like? Having public games available with people actually playing? A reset of the market? Completely new items dropping?

Can be used to make Runewords:

the search for new items, i'm really excited to find the new unique rings and the new elite warlock set
the chronicle
the qol in the stash tabs is so insanely good
the fact that developers have proven that they are paying attention to d2r and, if we buy enough of ROTW, maybe it will get more consistent updates/patches/balance changes. That is honestly my biggest hope.
I think the d2r community talks all the time about how much they want updates from blizzard. This is our opportunity to show that it's worthwhile for them to pay attention to the game, buy purchasing the product they have provided for us that gives a big update to the game.

OP
MrLlamaSC was a consultant and contributor on RotW. He did say at the end of one of his videos "there is more to come". I can't remember the exact verbiage but I got the feeling we'll get a few more bits when the next ladder starts.Spectie wrote: 2 hours agoif we buy enough of ROTW, maybe it will get more consistent updates/patches/balance changes. I legitimately called my wife on the way home from work yesterday and was so giddy explaining that a new d2 expansion was released. Tomorrow night my daughter stays at her grandparent's, so I am planning an all night session tomorrow after work
While I'm not a fan of the floating weapon visuals, the warlock skill visuals so far are actually pretty nifty.
Loot filter works great though there should really be an "always on" option for showing (filtered) loot now. Or...SOME sort of indication that it is on or off, seeing how with a proper filter you won't notice just based on "not seeing anything".
The chronicle coming with added cosmetics to earn is almost shockingly "more than expected".
Stacking works quite well, including the quick-move keys for it. And adding a cube window to each of the stacking tabs is a solid bonus.
Been a while since I've seen this many actual games in D2..

New class - I am looking forward to finding the ways and interactions it can be really strong.
New items - yea, this game is about grinding and finding items
QoL - changes to stash management are a HUGE step forward, I could delete at least four mule characters (still, some things could be done, for example "unstashing" three quality gems to cube at once (by one click) so one can just cube them. Stash tabs for uniques, sets. Better contrast for the number of stashed things (White number on light grey background)...
Loot filter - no more worthless potions, gems and keys polluting your lvl95 character's screen.
Price of $25 can understandably be quite a lot for many people, fortunately I am lucky enough to not have that problem and $25 feels ok. If it was like $50 or more, I would be much more disappointed

I'm happy to see Blizzard's leadership finally acknowledging that their IPs from the early-late noughties are the best they ever made, the most beloved by their fans, and the most worth iterating over
D2R and WoW Classic were the first demonstration of this. Now we've got an expansion for D2R and there's even talk of Classic + announcement at Blizzcon later this year. The future is looking really bright tbh.
More specifically about RotW - they clearly listened to fans re: stackable gems, runes, materials, and the need for more stash tabs. That alone is a huge QoL improvement. We should count ourselves lucky that additional stash tabs are included in the price of the expansion and not sold separately!

I would have easily paid $49.99 for this and felt like it was worth every penny. D2r is my comfort game. I have 800 hours on it just on my ps5, no idea how much more on my PC, but several hundred there as well. I'll easily get my money's worth out of this additional content and QOL increase.barcode wrote: 1 hour agoNew class - I am looking forward to finding the ways and interactions it can be really strong.

100% especially in todays MTX world. There's not a single update RotW provides i am unhappy with so far.Teebling wrote: 1 hour agoWe should count ourselves lucky that additional stash tabs are included in the price of the expansion and not sold separately!
I'll be honest, I didn't want a stack system at all. I played a D2 mod last year that has a stack system and when I played it I found it tedious and not pleasant. It was one of the reason I stopped playing the mod and get back to D2R. But I like the stack system in D2R. It's simple to use, it's not about stacking into the inventory, there is a limit (for me it's important, but maybe the limit is too low ? I don't know.). And the cube being open in the stash for craft, it's clever and I like the interface. Simple, but efficient.
I like having a grail system (even if online it's ... weird ?).
The loot filter system, I don't know. I'm not sure, I didn't really used it for now, but once I'll be doing some farming, it could be very useful, especially offline in LW. The chests there ... so full of stuff xD For its use online ... I can only guess that it will be harder to loot now :') I'll have to train my clicks.
And because I'm a very easy impressionable girl with simple tastes, I like the design of the warlock, the purple color for the miasma skills. His French voice is cool (I don't know about the English one), I like the voice acting, and I was a bit sad I couldn't find any info about it, but I admit, I didn't search a lot. Just not an easy access information. (Because, there is a guy that has been hired to voice a new character in D2, it's incredible, I want to know WHO this lucky guy is). A *bit* disapointed that we don't have a woman (to have a faire amount of men / women characters and to have a rival to the sorceress
), but I accept it's not a major something. I just like women who kick asses in games ^^
I wasn't there when LoD launched, *back then*, so I'm glad to participate in something major in a video game I love. It reminds me of the Indiana Jones 4 movie ... The movie was atrocious, but the excitation is similar !
Edit : Oh I forgot to mention that the warlock being able to carry a 2H weapon (even a staff) in one hand with a shield ?! It's the reason I'm going to try the eldritch skill tree, not a skill tree I would have try if not for the possibilities (and maybe find some use to some weapons and staff so often left aside). I have to admit, I like the idea. And again, it looks cool.

I have a feeling, that with all the extras we got after decades, that this will be part of something way bigger. Like regular after ladder patches, updates, bug fixes etc.
The Warlock was released cross-games, so what if... and just what if.. someday... (hopium) we port our D2R characters over to one of the other games? or D5 lets you port it all over? Who knows but this has obviously shown us that Blizzard has bigger things in mind esp for D2R.
I watched the live stream on Mr. Llama SC's channel, and they called out all the streamers that had been helping dev this update.
This is just the beginning. My prediction.
And I too, and not unhappy with a single thing. I play on PS and PC, and within 5 minutes I purchased the upgrade for both systems.
30 years, over 1000 hours on 1 Sorceress alone... yeah 1000% worth right there.

You could always keep your rune mules. Just don't use the runes tab.
I see this expansion as a possibility for us to get updates for our long forgotten game. I'm not interested in Warloc, but I hope devs will pay attention to other classes too. We already have some quality of life improvements, and I hope it's only beginning.
Overconfidence is a slow and insidious killer.

Too late, It's already an habit haha. Managing my stashes and do some craft was so satisfying with the new system. I admit, I was wrong about the idea of stacking but I love this system. As I said, as long as it is NOT possible to do it in the character inventory or anywhere else, I'm cool with it.Bizington wrote: 1 hour agoNyffs wrote: 1 hour agoI'll be honest, I didn't want a stack system at all. And I wanted to clear some characters slots too. More place to do some stupid builds
From what I read, there is a way to make the Compendium update if someone else in your party IDs an item, but it's a setting that needs to be turned on? Not sure about whether you need to be nearby, but maybe you do need to be in game when it dropped? Not entirely sure.
Usually looking for Runes, Essences, PGems, Tokens, Keys, etc.

Hopefully this is a setting that is default off. I don't want credit for an item someone in my party finds and grabs.justinman114 wrote: 1 hour agoFrom what I read, there is a way to make the Compendium update if someone else in your party IDs an item, but it's a setting that needs to be turned on? How does the grail work bc I've been playing and mine is still on 0%
I have to assume it is default to off. Cannot remember where I saw it now, been scouring for info on everything since this was announced lol it's like the first day of school or something. Might have been from Llama.Knappogue wrote: 1 hour agoHopefully this is a setting that is default off. So far it appears the Compendium, (Grail) only works with characters who have been converted to RotW and you need the find the item yourself OR possibly be in a party and within 2 screens of someone who kills the monster who drops it, but you ID it. The grail only tracks sets, uniques, and runewords.
