Description
So I understand that with some auras like Conviction, only the highest aura takes effect. If you have a pally running slvl 21 and another pally running slvl 19, only the slvl 21 affects mobs. The question I have is for damage auras. If I'm running a slvl 20 Holy Fire and another pally jumps in with slvl 10 Holy Fire, will mobs take tick damage from both auras, or only the higher one? I had this occur running cows the other day and realized I didn't know the answer.

Damaging auras do stack.
The simplest rule of thumb is probably "if you can see it, it doesn't stack".
I.e. auras that leave an aura effect, be that offensive or defensive, will only give you the highest one on the target with the effect. So only one Fanaticism on you, only one Conviction on mobs and so on.
Damage auras, while they leave an effect on you, don't do so on targets but only hit them with the brief hit animation each tick. Those then do stack as they get hit by everyone with a dmg aura around them ("stack" in this case meaning each hits and does damage but they don't combine to a higher level).
That rule actually extends beyond auras and includes things like shouts of the same type (e.g. only 1 BO), curse effects (e.g. only 1 LR) and so on.
As with everything D2, some exceptions do apply, even to the simplest of rules but in this case those are rare.

As @Schnorki said, damaging auras do stack.
To add to what DasNarf said - the levels don't combine, that only happens when items granting the same aura are equipped by the same character. So if you had 2 Dream equipped and your merc had 2 Dream equipped, you would both have a level 30 Holy Shock. Both would damage enemies with their pulses, but they don't combine to level 60. Also, the merc's Holy Shock would be doing pitiful damage because he doesn't have any synergies nor Lightning Mastery.
