Sol Runes are the "hardest" ingredients to obtain for the very popular Insight and Lore Runewords, and can be dropped starting from Act 4 normal difficulty.
They can, however, be easily farmed at Nightmare Countess.

Farming: 8 Nightmare Countess Runs.
Cubing: 5 Nightmare Countess Runs.
