MLD Lightning Guide

Introduction

Lightning Sorceress at level 49 come in 2 forms: ES Light, relying on Energy Shield while dealing damage, and Vita Light, with higher damage at the expense of tanking ability.
Neither build was common at mid level duels (MLD) noting the build(s) lacked the range of fire and cold Sorceress. However is fun to play and can be competitive.

Energy Shield or Vitality build

• Benefits of ES Light build: Decent damage, good range, decent tanking power against a large number of builds, but weak against builds utilising the item Thundergod's Vigor (+Max Resistances and + Light Absorb). ES Light should be doing close to 13K damage with Lidless Wall.

• Benefits of Vita Light build: Amazing damage. Even against Thundergod's Vigor. Good Range. Ideal for Sorceress versus Sorceress, but needs good resistances and it's fragile against certain builds. Vita Light should be doing close to 19K damage with Lidless Wall.

Break Points:

A Lightning Sorceress ideally wants 117% faster cast rate to reach it's max break point. But can play 105% faster cast rate. Which hinders the use of Spirit sword in both builds. Instead, Suicide Branch is utilised for Energy Shield builds while a rare orb is utilised for Vita Builds.

• ES Light attains 117% faster cast rate from Suicide Branch 50%, Viper 30%, Caster Belt 7%, Circlet 20%, Amulet 10%

• ES Light attains 105% faster cast rate from Spirit 35%, Skin of the Vipermagi 30%, Caster Belt 10%, Circlet 20%, Amulet 10%

• Vita Light attains 117% faster cast rate from Orb 20%, Trang-Oul's Claws or Magefist 20%, Caster Belt 10%, Skin of the Vipermagi 30%, Circlet 20%, Caster Amulet 17%

Strength: Enough for gear 60 for Frostburn, 53 for ethereal
Dexterity: Enough for max block with Whitstan's Guard
Energy: Everything else here
Vitality: None

Vitality Build:

Strength for gear (60 for Frostburn, 53 for for ethereal
Dexterity for max block
Energy: None
Vitality: Everything else here

Hell Rushed. All stat/skill quests completed.
Rushed Level 49 have 255 attribute points and 60 skill points.

1 Thunder Storm

On Vita Light build try to get Thunder Storm auto mod from Orb.

Gear:

When it comes to gear you really don't have to switch too many items. Whitstan's Guard for max block against melee, Lidless Wall against casters. Can also use damage armour versus elemental.
If playing Vita Build you need a Cold Resist Setup.

Helmet:
Rare Circlet / Coronet 2 to Lightning skills, 20% faster cast rate, 30% faster run / walk, 90 mana, 2 socket ( Rainbow Facet: Lightning Death / Rare Stat Jewels)
Powered Circlet / Coronet of the Magus 3 to lightning skills, 20% faster cast rate, 2 socket ( Rainbow Facet: Lightning Death / Rare Stat Jewels)
Powered Circlet / Coronet of the Mammoth 3 to lightning skills, 100 life, 2 socket ( Rainbow Facet: Lightning Death / Rare Stat Jewels)

Amulet:
Rare Amulet 2 to lightning skills, 10% faster cast rate, 60 life, 10 replenish life, 90 mana (+1 mod)
Caster Amulet 2 to lightning skills, 20% faster cast rate, 110 mana, 10% regenerate mana
Powered Amulet of the Whale 3 to lightning skills, 100 life

Weapon(s):
Spirit Crystal Sword 35% faster cast rate, 112 mana, 8 absorb.
Rare Glowing Orb 2 to Sorceress skills, 3 to Lightning, 3 to Lightning Mastery, (+ mods 2 socket, 60 mana)

Switch:
Memory War Staff 3 to Sorceress skill levels, 6 Energy Shield, 3 to Chilling Armor

Use the Memory to cast Energy Shield, thereby saving points as you don't have to put any hard points into it.

Caster Belt 10% faster cast rate, 5 replenish life / 9 strength, 60 Life, 50 Mana

Caster Boots 20% faster run / walk, 40 mana, increase maximum mana 5%, regenerate mana 10% (+1 mod)

Inventory:
10 Sparking Grand Charm of Sustenance 1 to lightning skills, 30 life
10 Serpent's Small Charm of Vita 20 life, 17 mana
