MLD Concentrate Guide

Introduction

Concentrate Barbarian also known as Conc Barbarian relies on the skill Concentrate as a main attack and massive defense and max block to protect him. Level 49 Concentrate Barbarian duels are some of the most boring duels imaginable. Concentrate Barbarian is built for melee duels, fighting anything that requires you to chase them is a very difficult fight.

Gear

High defense items without sacrificing much.

Helm:
Perfect Arreat's Face 200% Enhanced Defense (Magic jewel 30% ED / -15% Req)

Ethereal Prudence Boneweave

Weapon:
Ethereal Oath Highland Blade

Highland Blade's over Small Crescent's due to the range 3 and Highland Blade's can be use 2 handed for more damage against certain characters.

Amulet:
Angelic Wings

Rings:
Angelic Halo (2 for good mannered duels)
Raven Frost (Public Duels)

Shield:
Sanctuary Hyperion

Gloves:
Immortal King's Forge

Boots:
Immortal King's Pillar

Defense / life small charm's because they are much cheaper, and on a Concentrate Barbarian, more defense isn't bad.

Arreat's Face socketed with Req -15% Magic Jewel save 9 strength.

Dueling tips

Melee: Switch to back hand and Battle Command twice, Battle Orders, Shout. Now point and click and wait for the duel to finish.

Bow Amazon: Same starting sequence. To hit her, you have to catch her. While she is running run, when she turns to fire Arrows walk to increase blocking.

Sorceress: Same starting sequence. Same as above, except that you don't need to block. Drop using shield against all Sorceress, only possible variation is for good blizzard sorceress. Dueling in nightmare you will be lacking in resist a bit, so switching to the Um'd Arreat's Face is enough to get you close to 75% resist all. Dual wielding the Oath Highland Blade will give a significant increase in damage.

Smite: Same starting sequence. Best bet is to lose the shield and pray. Most smiters you should kill in 3-4 hits, but getting those hits can be difficult. Good luck.

Blessed Hammer: Same starting sequence. Another very difficult duel. No shield and damage Arreat's Face is a must. If the Paladin Charge's at you, you should have enough def to stop the attack. Other than that, avoid hammer's as best you can, stay playing defensive and try to get the Paladin to have to come to you. Try to stay to the south / south-east of the Paladin.

Fist of the Heavens: Same starting sequence. This is the only time I would suggest using both your shield and Um'd Arreat's Face. Conviction can and will destroy your resists, so just hang on for a tough ride.

Trap Assassin: Same starting sequence. With the gear set up, in nightmare you will have 75% resist all with your damage Arreat's Face and no shield. So go for that. These are very tricky duels, chasing down someone that only has to stop every time a trap discharges its 10 shots, can be very time consuming. Best option is to just keep running around avoiding traps and hoping that the trapper makes a mistake.

Understood. But considering how hard the match up is against sorc, 1 less in Blade Mastery for one in natural résistance, especially for teams seem a good deal - except if 14 gives you a given Key value ?

Could say the same of Increased Speed as well, making it a 1 point wonder.

But I believe you're right, a tough choice to make.
