Description

Curses a group of enemies, increasing the non-magic damage they receive.

Amplify Damage
lowers monster Physical Resistances by 100%. It will also remove the Immune to Physical on Monsters.

Amplify Damage
allows you to quickly finish enemies off. You find
Amplify Damage
useful on any monsters you or your minions want to kill fast, such as Unique Bosses, Champions, Monsters that raise other Monsters such as
Mummy
, or any monsters that might give you a hard time.

Use
Amplify Damage
in parties with other players and in situations where you're doing more damage to the enemy than they are doing to you.

Does
Amplify Damage
work on spell damage as well as physical damage?
No, only Physical Damage.

Does
Amplify Damage
work with
Corpse Explosion
?
Partially.
Corpse Explosion
does 50% Physical damage and 50% Fire damage.

Lore

This deceptively potent curse rapidly advances the age and putridity of any wound.

Ordinary blows will cut through flesh and carve particularly vicious wounds that fester and seethe.

This is typically considered a "1 point wonder", in that additional points only increase radius, and not the amount of damage amplification. Therefore, every necromancer build only puts one point into it, and any additional points are provided by +skill gear and charms.

Damage Reduced by % is capped at 50%, but you can stack it to compensate the loss from
Decrepify
or
Amplify Damage
curses.

Every necro build needs this curse. That one skill point works wonders for this, same with
Corpse Explosion
. I've run no/low curse skill point builds, but I never skimp at least +1 on amplify at least. Big payoff for such a small skill point investment. +Skill items buff it by increasing cast radius.

In Diablo 2 Monster Physical Resistance is capped at 100%.

Curses work at 1/5 efficiency when breaking immunity. That means:
  1. All monster's Physical Immunities can be broken by
    Amplify Damage
    .
  2. The resulting Physical Resistance of said monsters will be exactly 80%
The
Sanctuary Aura
sets the Physical Resistance of monsters to 0.
Amplify Damage
is apllied before Sanctuary so when using the latter it is pointless to use
Amplify Damage
.

With the physical sunder charm
Bone Break
in your inventory, both
Amplify Damage
and
Decrepify
work at 100% effectiveness.
This is unlike how elemental damage sunder charms interact with
Lower Resist
and
Conviction
, which only operate at 20% effectiveness on sundered enemies.
