Description

An Assassin can will her physical being to shift partially into the astral planes. As her body becomes less substantial, she becomes less susceptible to the effects of elemental attacks and magical curses.

Fade has a hidden bonus to Physical Resistance. Being hidden, it doesn't display on your character or on the skill. It is capped at 50%.

Fade reduces Shrine duration by the same percentage as it reduces curse duration. To avoid shortened Shrine duration, cast Burst of Speed before touching the shrine; once you touched the Shrine, cast Fade again.

Fade cannot be used with Burst of Speed. Casting one will cancel the other.

You can pre-buff Fade. Fade will keep the bonuses at the time of the cast, even if you change equipment.

Burst of Speed and Fade cannot be used together, although either can be used with Venom: Skill.

As of ROTW and the advent of uber jewels from the Colossal Ancients, there are now 4 sources of Fade available to non-Assassins. In order of character level requirements, these are:

> Level 43 Treachery armor;
5% proc at level 15 Fade.
> Level 65 Last Wish weapon;
6% proc at level 11 Fade.
> Level 68 Spirit Ward Unique shield;
5% proc at 8 Fade.
> Level 75 Protector’s Stone uber jewel.
1% proc at level 15 Fade.

As for the effects at levels 8, 11 and 15, these are:
> all res: 50, 56, 60
> curse reduction: -71%, - 75%, - 79%
> duration: 204seconds, 240s, 288s
> phys dam reduction: -8%, -11%, -15%

The difference between a Fade that procs at levels 8,11 and 15 are most noticeable in the duration and physical damage reduction (7% between level 8 and 15) and of course the duration of an extra 1m24s. However, the all res stat shows a more marginal difference of only 10 all res, and curse reduction of 8% difference.

Takeaway: If you don’t want to use a protector Stone (physical damage reduction builds mainly), and you can’t use Lastwish (expensive and swords/hammers/axes only); then you have 2 choices: either Treachery or Spirit Ward. Armor switch or Shield Switch? Treachery may yield a more powerful Fade, but SW may well offer a better QoL?
