Treachery is one of the class-specific armor rune words, added in patch 1.11.

Despite being designed for Assassins, thanks to its massive IAS bonus, it remains useful for any weapon-based class (or hireling).
The Fade buff is useful for any class, and can be procced by standing in fire. It remains after switching the armor.

Treachery can be used to proc Fade on a fire next to the River of Flame waypoint, which is useful for doing Uber Tristram.

Outside of the act 5 gates and around the safe zone in Uber Tristram are also good places to trigger the Fade effect.

Treachery built in an ethereal ebugged Archon Plate is considered the best in slot armor (better than the typical option Fortitude) for an act 2 merc wielding Infinity (built in a fast weapon- Thresher or Giant Thresher) and a helmet socketed with ED/IAS gem (typically ethereal Andariel’s Mask).

Such Merc setups are typically used by characters focusing on lightning damage. Main reason is the main IAS bonus on runeword, allowing to increase the DPS by reaching the next break point of the merc‘s attacks. On top, Fade proccs are superior to Fortitude‘s EDef.

Stand in the fire next to Hadriel in the River of Flame to trigger Fade.

Level 15 Fade will provide 60% to all resistances and 15% to physical resistance for 288 seconds (4 minutes and 48 seconds).

A slvl 15 Venom: Skill proc has the following effects:

When doing Uber Tristram you can use Treachery to get Fade on fire next to River of Flames waypoint and then change armor for something better suited for the job as the buff doesn't disappear.

If you play an Assassin and want to use Burst of Speed or Fade, you shouldn't use Treachery.
Whenever the chance to cast Fade is triggered by Treachery, it will overwrite your previous instance of Burst of Speed or Fade (even if you previously had a higher level Fade).
