Description

This recipe has the possibility of creating a higher quality Rare item with the following formula: ilvl = int(.66 * clvl) + int(.66 * ilvl).

That is, the ilvl will be equal to .66 times your character level (rounded down) plus .66 times the input item's item level (also rounded down).

Using a
Stone of Jordan
made sense back in the day because they were being mass dupped and Blizz wanted a SoJ sink.

Unless we see mass duping of SoJ again, this recipe probably has no use.

Note: if you do this with an ethereal item, the result will not be ethereal. :(

Those GG
Eth
weapons must be found in the wild.

This recipe is good for rolling GG rare jewels though, a good one can be made at a rate of about 1/50, while GG diadems are much rarer, at a rate of over 1/couple hundred, even in the thousands.

GG rare class specific items are a descent option for this as well.

If you were looking for the absolute best in slot for +skills though magic versions are still superior, with the ability to +3 to a skill tab and +3 on specific skills, compared to the +5 total possible on rares
