Hey all, I'm an old school returning player, managed to get myself to a perfect (or so

) hammerdin, but as I played it in the old days I kinda got bored of it, now i did a switch to a singer barb to reduce the amount of gear change i need to do and enable horking, still not sure about what I think about it, what do you find is the best way to accumulate Wealth and with which build?
Would love your input on how to best accumulate Wealth, with which build and also how many hours a day/week you put it.

I like to farm keys/statues and act bosses when Terror zone and then its just farming diablo and sometimes cows, Runes are just an added bonus if they drop

I'm also in this boat! I went blizz sorc to start but I've accumulated enough to build a Nova sorc that can run most any content. I Key farm a lot and run level 85+ areas like The Pit and Stony tomb. You'd be surprised at how many high runes you find just grinding The Arcane Sanctuary and Countess. Non-Countess monsters can drop higher runes, and the ghosts have limited pool drops that favor runes so I kill them as they crop up. Just keep grinding and make sure you're checking prices on what you find fairly regularly. A lot has changed since the 2000s when I last played and you might be surprised as to what items have high value all of the sudden! Also, anything Warlock is still kind of at a premium if you're playing RotW.

Having some luck with item rolls can make you pretty rich. I once rolled a 15ed MP Enigma with 775 defense and sold it for 24 Jah.

But the real deal is consistent trading for me. For over 2 years I bought Hels for Ists and sold them for Jahs. About 7 Ist per 32 Hel, sold in bulk for a Jah which was 11-12 Ist back then. I did this at least 150 times and made over 60 Jah with it.

Then there are the extremely rare but very lucrative deals. Once I bought a 6-40 Ceremonial Javelin for just 10 Jah and sold it for 30 Jah. That was pre-RotW, of course.

Gold find barb. People without Gold find farm trav since drops can be very good there. Add massive amounts of Gold to the mix and you can gamble stuff for even more d2 Wealth. You're double-dipping, and the rewards are sweet.

IMO rings are the best thing to gamble. Almost everyone needs at least one gg rare ring, yet nobody's ever trading them. Whether it's physical damage or caster based, any good set of rolls will have value. There's also a high demand for dual leech rings, and physical damage rings with fcr. So there are many valuable combos.

Amulets are a poor bet, physical damage dealers are usually going to want highlord's and casters will usually want a 2/15+ craft. Plus you need to be level 95+ to guarantee that every rare amulet you gamble can have +2 class skills. At best the nice ones you gamble will be seen as a placeholder until a 2/15+ craft, so people won't trade much for them.

Circlets and coronets are much more expensive, and no matter how godly, a zon / barb circ isn't gonna have much demand / value. For the classes that do use circs, they almost invariably must have 20fcr to offer something that Shako doesn't. Even then, a plain 2/20 isn't worth much. The really good ones have 2os, which for some reason doesn't seem to roll very often.

I'm SP offline, haven't been on the realms in many years. I've heard there are no trading games now, which is sad. I remember there was never anyone trading rare rings in trade games. I'd join, put my rings in the window, and just wait. Sometimes 5 minutes would pass, and usually "How much for <ring name>?" or at a minimum, "Dang those are nice!" It was pretty neat being the guy with the cool stuff no one else had. Business was quite good.

Already a little outdated, but you might want to check out this.
In this thread I explained what my sons and I did (but not possible anymore because currently there are only 2-3 DClone walks on NL in a week)

Here are some other things I can tell:

I mainly play three Chars with no GG gear (no perfect rolls, skillers with 30-34 life etc.) with which I can do everything in the game: Zealer/Smiter Pally for Ubers and Colossal Summit, Cold Sorc for classic TZ Boss farming and Mosaic Sin for hunting Heralds (I also have a Summoner Druid which was my first Char and a Warlock which I still have to level up)
I estimate that I used to play 1-2 hours a day on average (I currently take a break). To optimize the outcome, I tried to focus on boss TZs or, if there was no good TZ, I farmed The Summoner + Duriel (for keys + statues)
I sell nearly all my valuable unique items unidentified because in my estimation this is in sum far more profitable. E. g. to currently sell a Griffon's Eye or a Crown of Ages for more than 1 Jah you have to get a really good roll. Today I sold two unidentified Griffon's Eye for 1 Jah each, yesterday 30 unidentified Skin of the Vipermagi for 2 Jah (but this was a really long sale ) and last week I sold an unidentified Ars Al'Diabolos for 4 Jah (in my estimation this is currently the most valuable unique item to sell unidentified - a few weeks ago I sold one for even 10 Jah). People still like to "gamble", but in my estimation the number of people taking this "risk" has decreased significantly.
It seems to me statues and keys are still good to sell (I don't sell them because I might use them for an upcoming project ). Thanks to the new shared stash and the new items in RotW, selling low runes and crafting materials in general seems not very profitable anymore.
Bases can also be very valuable but you have to be really lucky to get a valuable one (Warlock weapons with nice auto mods, superior ethereal weapons/armor with the right number of sockets etc.)
Charms are still needed and Travincal is a good place to farm them, but it seems to me the value of most of them has decreased significantly (best one I got in the last weeks was a 19 Life/16-24 fire SC which was very long sale and ended up with 2 Jah + 1 Sur + 1 Ohm). As I already mentioned in the thread you linked to: It seems to me people are currently far more reserved to buy stuff. In my estimation one of the main reasons is the decline of bots. One or two years ago there were a ton of bots active and you could buy a Jah on RMT sites for ca. 0,30 EUR . I suspect many people took advantage of such offers and flooded the market (for the record: I never bought something from a RMT site). When I checked the last time, a Jah was about 3,00 EUR+ even on NL! The "effect" should be obvious
