If you want a body guard for your Iron Golem, freezing aura Emilio would be an option. You can even consider Flickering Flame on him to give your golem fire immunity. (He is already poison immune and lightning immune at lvl 6 Summon Resist.)

As weapon, Obedience (CB) and Insight ( Meditation) look solid. You can consider Silence (or Passion as a budget alternative) for Hit Causes Monster To Flee and Hit Blinds Target.

My preference is an A1 merc but that leaves the golem very exposed.

What's your idea behind the A5 hireling with Death? Just CB for bosses and heralds?

In my humble opinion, there's exactly one good weapon for this guy: Dreadfang.

Fyi: With a Colossus Sword, the Barb needs 65 IAS to reach max fpa with your level 9 Fanaticism. If you lose you golem (and you will lose him), it will be 174 IAS....

If you want CB, why not Emilio with Infinity or Obedience?

hmm he's that much worse than Frenzy barb or emilio? necro doesn't really need ctc amplify dmg does he?

for now my shortlist

Bash barb with Death or alst wish
Frenzy barb with 2x Death
emilio with Obedience or Tomb Reaver

Why not just Obedience a2? It's great, I don't see the advantage of a5 except for dual Death maybe. Plus he's super ugly.
