As a group of D2R fans - what are your collective thoughts on d4? I haven't touched it yet but with the disappointing lack of D2R news yesterday i'm considering giving it a shot. I liked d3 for a bit. Didn't have nearly the staying power as d2r (currently 1300 hours for me on d2r)

the release of the amazon seems neat i guess. I really know nothing about d4 other than the underwhelming community opinion on it at release.

It's not a bad game, period.

If you want to gear up, destroy some monsters and collect cool loot, it's cool, there's a lot of stuff to do and you will have fun.

But if you want to play optimally and push the tower, the game's flaws and bugs became really grating and you will grow extremelly frustrated, this is what made me quit it.

Really not worth the time - speaking from someone who has tried all classes and leveled them all to max level (Even played hardcore) and played through several seasons.

Reason I quit was because of its horrible itemization. My feeling is that the D4 team does not seem to have a clear idea/vision on their itemization (They haven't decided what they want to do), the perfect gg item you finally acquired today might become trash tomorrow, making farming/grinding for items pointless. Also, every new season is just a lazy cut and paste from last/previous season, very repetitive and unoriginal. I don't even wanna give it 1 minute anymore (hence quitted).

If you've played D2, I don't suggest you waste time/money on it. But if you haven't and really liked D3, I guess you can give it a shot.

Manners Maketh Man -Rude / Illiterate / Ridiculously low-balled ppl WILL BE IGNORED.
If we agree to trade, please be proactive & efficient.
I'll add you if you've left a message in my ad (with your offer & BNet ID) + We've both agree to trade.

It's not bad, but very fast-paced and geared towards seasonal mode only. You can easily reach max power (or very close to it) during a couple months of the season duration. But they regularly rework all items, making all the gg items you hoarded trash every few seasons, so no point returning to eternal realm/old characters you liked.

To compare to d2, imagine having a perfect roll of dweb or Grief in inventory after 200 hrs of grinding, and next patch cuts its stats by 33%. after they did it AGAIN, I quit.

This. I quit after the second time they trashed everything too. I want to play again, but only after they actually stop tinkering with items (so when Diablo 5 comes out).

They made it a seasonal churn game where you are pushed to restart and spend hours farming over and over again per season. Totally a treadmill to get you to keep buying the blizzard slop passes they put in it.

Isn’t the essence of a ladder season?
