That's true, but in this ilvl range staffmods are limited to tier 5 skills (i.e. level 24). It won't roll the elemental masteries (or Frozen Orb or Hydra).
Correct. My point is that this is the case for all 3 recipes with chipped, normal, and flawless gems.
Only rerolling with Perfect Gems gives you the chance of tier 6 staff mods (if your character and base items have high enough levels).

did a lengthy Herald session today, went well from 98.76 to 98.8.. until the very last t5 SkeletonHerald one shot me before collapsing himself to the final Fireball( cta had worn off, Energy Shield was on.. i think
corpse recovered, back to 98.76. pretty demotivating. i really shall get to cherry picking act bosses till i get to 99
and the consequence from yesterday: finally replaced the mediocre -5/+8 Stone with this beauty. no point hoarding it for the perfect orb that might never come. if only I had made it sooner, circe might have survived yesterday

guys I'm theorycrafting the Fireball / Hydra uber killer. what would you go for?
1) Chains of Honor, Spirit, The Oculus.
highest res, highest life, highest nominal dmg, but -res limited to -35
2) Skin of the Vipermagi, Phoenix, Eschuta's Temper. skills, life & res lower (almost impossible to max vs meph and uber ancients), but -res can reach -68
3) same as 2) but jmod with four facets instead of Phoenix.. even less def, -res -65, slightly higher nominal dmg than 2)
4) something else??
With rising sun you can make your sorc heal when hit by fire.
But if you want to go for max speed, here is a fire sorc build that can do Ubers in under a minute:
that's a bit extreme.. but i think a socketed Skin of the Vipermagi + 1 Opalvein + Phoenix + socketed The Oculus should be fine. 90% fire res + some fire absorb vs Talic should be achievable, as well as 80 lite res and 75 cold res. -68 fire res should be enough even without Infinity. against meph impossible * to max out res without Chains of Honor, but he should be doable as long as you can separate him.. worst case use a socketed Kira's Guardian vs him
respecced the lvl 99 sorc back to Fireball/Hydra with Phoenix. first max life, just over 2k life/ 800 mana. very squishy, Energy Shield nearly useless. then put some 100 points into energy, much better, roughly 1.6k life/1.4k mana. Energy Shield really helps at this point, feels relatively safe. dps-wise not much difference felt to the Spirit setup, everything melts instantly. still doubt it will be an easy run vs ubers
also wonder how long an ethereal Phoenix from the previous video will last.. probably a neglectable piece of gear if the stash is full of 45 life skillers
