Dclone was originally invented as a way to combat the mass flood of duped SoJs on D2:LoD - the Annihilus was basically the endgame reward for getting rid of duped SoJs. In D2R, the SoJs for walks have been mostly been sourced via botting (D2R has had a huge botting problem since ladder season 2 at least).
Btw, offline you only need one SoJ. Yes, they're hard to find, but at least you don't have to find 125... Also, back in D2:LoD, you couldn't even do that - annis were impossible to get offline, same with torches.
