Cold Mastery is mostly just to improve the effectiveness (freeze length) on Frozen Armor, though I also wanted it to mess around with for a + Frozen Orb sphere I have.

-60% cold res for 1 point seems like a pretty good deal, especially since I don't have many other compelling places to spend it.

Cold Resist modifies cold damage and cold or freeze length (including Freezes Target) by a percentage, after Magic Damage Reduced has been applied; CR -100% is the floor, while CR > 99% makes a unit Immune to Cold and prevents it from being chilled or frozen.

Cold Mastery itself doesn't directly increase freeze length. But it does so indirectly due the the resistance piercing.

0% cold resistance = normal chill/freeze length
50% cold resistance = halved chill/freeze length
-100% cold resistance = doubled chill/freeze length

(on top of this, mobs also have a chill effectiveness stat - a mob with 0 chill effectiveness cannot be chilled/frozen regardless of their effective resistance)
